the first 1447.5 hours or so are pretty terrible but after that it gets pretty good. :)

I own Overwatch, I pre-ordered the Origins Edition, and I have to say; this game feels a lot more fun than Overwatch. The thing is, there is polish, but there is also too much polish. Paladins is relatively polished--which is a good thing. It's not perfect by any means, but perfection is boring. While there are some glaring similarities between the two games, the differences in playstyle are immense, and the card loadouts and in-game progression make the game feel a lot more alive. Ultimates aren't game changing, there are no press Q/E and win abilties, the ultimates are more of an extension of the character's kit rather than a mandatory goal like they are in Overwatch. Each hero is unique, but Hi-Rez is not afraid to release heroes that may be deceptively similar, but overall completely different from each other, and always fun.

The customization options are aplenty here, with 6-7 slots for customization, 3 of which are mix-and-match apparel, so it is not often you find another player rocking the same style as you. With new costumes, weapons, and hats being added every patch, the options will eventually be overwhelmingly glorious. There are voice packs available for every hero, and they can be bought with the money you earn in-game.

The game is not pay-to-win at all, the only thing that paying real money will get you is aesthetic or a minor shortcut to things you can get in-game anyways. You can buy the founder's packs which are definitely worth it, unlocking every hero in the game forever for $20, which is essentially buying the game if you think about it. The epic and legendary founders packs are really just there for the diehard fans who want every cosmetic ever immediately; and I admit that I am one of those people, haha.

Pros
+Fun gameplay
+Good customization
+Good F2P model
+Familiar/easy to get in to
+Lots of different ranks to flaunt your experience

Cons
-6 Maps for the main gamemode
-Stigma for being an "Overwatch clone"
-There are "noob-traps"
-Less than ideal matchmaking

I had never played a 3D fighting game before, but this game hits every good spot for me. It has great RPG elements with the customization, gear, stats, and ability training/unlocking, its combat is very fluid, and I dont get tired of the game at all. As a long time fan of DBZ, I decided to try this game for a little bit and put it down, but I can foresee myself putting a lot of time into this game, especially with the online battles. 10/10

The controls are terrible. There are four different confirmation buttons, a, x, y, and occasionally enter or space. What is the need for this? Also, the game feels very sluggish, and none of the weapons feel good to use. The intermission phase between levels is beyond confusing to work with, and most of the time it leaves you wondering if you actually upgraded anything or not. Every level is the same, the gunplay never changes, and it is boring to look it.

Sometimes I forget it's an indie game, however, with the most recent major patch, 1.3, the end game progression has fallen short of what Terraria is. The fact that it is very linear and you need to do a -> b -> c is disappointing, as with every other patch it feels much more open to what the player wants to do. Overall great game, this one thing aside.

$15 for a hero AFTER the devs said that there would be only cosmetic microtransactions? This game is headed in a bad direction.

Game is insanely difficult, and I appreciate how fast you can restart your runs.
