I'm still recommending it because I think these guys deserve my money and also your's. However, as remarkable as this might be for having been accomplished by two people, it still very much feels like it was done by two people. The gameplay, as far as I can tell, consists of "swim around until the music starts, and then shoot all of the sharks."

These guys need to team up with the subnautica folks, because the one thing they absolutely nailed is just that feeling of swimming around. If there was an actual game to play here, it would be an easy recommend based on that alone. But for now, my purchase feels more like a donation to a couple devs that I hope keep making games.

It's just....bad? Like, I legitimately don't understand the reviews. This isn't "retro style" graphics its just flat corridors and inconsistent textures. This isn't "retro style" sound design, it's just bad audio choices and terrible mixing. This game has a unique reload mechanic that essentially means you're pressing more buttons when you need to reload. The only reason I can surmise the reviews are like this is because it's filled with gooner bait.

It's bad. Don't believe all these other weirdos. This is a niche title at best.

Absolutely fantastic creation that is criminally under represented in creative spaces that should be losing their minds over it. I do think it would better served by incorporating some restrictions on buildables, instead of allowing every vehicle to basically be infinitely destructive just by moving a slider all the way to the right in the build menu. I think it would be very rewarding if everything had power requirements, or engines, I don't know - something to balance it out. As it is currently, it's a pile of legos and I'm into that. But I definitely wish there was more here.

I still cannot recommend it enough to anyone who is even remotely into this kinda thing.

My only real complaint is that I want more of it. It absolutely feels like a labor of love from people who love this stuff. I could nitpick about certain aspects, but they all boil down to it still feeling like an indie title. I've shot lots of guns at lots of bad guys, and shooting bad guys with these guns is just the best I've experienced.

Imagine Skyrim if it was Baldur's Gate 3 but it's at the Renaissance Festival and you're playing Splinter Cell behind the gift shop while eating a turkey leg and getting drunk with the boys.

I absolutely adore the first game and I am incredibly excited to see where this goes, because there is so much potential here. However, this is not an appropriate release for early access. This should be an internal build or a private alpha release at most. It currently runs fine, looks great (for the most part). But nothing is functional except some thrusters (ion only) and the ship drill (it spins and makes bits of asteroid voxels disappear at least). Everything else is basically just legos.

I won't be requesting a refund, because I still want this project to succeed and I like supporting indie devs. I will not be recommending it here or to anyone else, though - not until there's a game.

This game is playing as Van Helsing set in Red Dead Revolver while Uncharted plays in the background and the original God of War can be heard partying next door. Remnant was invited to that party, but came to Evil West to be nice, and is now regretting that choice, idly staring into its glass.

I got this as a gift from a friend, so for that price it's fine. But I really can't recommend anyone else pick it. The gameplay is just good enough that it feels like it needed another six months of polish to get it to something great. What really drags it down for me though is the writing and dialogue - I'm all for campy and weird, but it's like every sentence doesn't even relate to the one that came before it when two people are talking to each other. There's cutscenes that end with your character in some location, only for you to start the level in an entirely different place. It's all just so disjointed and badly written and distracting. I think what makes it even more frustrating is just how much potential was here. There's some legitimately cool worldbuilding underlying all of this and it just crumbles under abysmal dialogue and atrocious story boarding.

This is one of those kinds a games that I typically gravitate too quite readily, but unfortunately everything this game does is simply done better by other games. Its attempts at introducing any uniqueness to the formula simply feels like clutter. I feel like the actual game mechanics could have used an editor. Also the UI is so stylized its actually just unreadable and gives me a headache.

I could definitely see some people being in love with this, but it's not something I can recommned.
