A good collection of games, a bad selection of video options. I don't consider myself too picky but there are no interpolation options leaving you stuck with hard edge nearest neighbour pixels. This would be fine except for the games not having consistent pixel sizes resulting in shimmering with motion.

There are several filters to choose from but they're not filters so much as overlays. One adds scanlines, which is nicely implemented and the only one I find usable, your other choices are an uneven shadowmask or an equally uneven pixel grid that both look like a mess.

For the asking price the lack of basic options here is a cowabummer.

It was bold of Capcom to make a mainline Resident Evil that was only Mercenaries mode and nothing else, but I gotta hand it to 'em, it's a really good Mercenaries mode

It sort of feels like F.E.A.R. with procedurally generated layouts and enemy placements. It gets repetitive but the shooting is solid and the enemies have good reactions. The slo-mo is tied to entering new rooms, which can get old, and you can't pick up enemy weapons so you're stuck to your loadout. Those qualms aside, it's fun for a few hours.

It's short, charming, and makes for a good palate cleanser between games.

I didn't watch the anime, but even if I did it wouldn't excuse how disjointed and barely coherent the story mode is. No one's given anything resembling character development, the characters aren't even given much introduction, and things just happen with little rhyme or reason. There are two character routes to play in the story, you can probably guess who they are, and the cutscenes are largely identical between them.

Aside from that you have your versus mode, and two different survival modes, one that has you in one on one fights, another that pits you against waves of enemies. The game only has a handful of characters to choose from and a few stages to fight in. It's all pretty underwhelming and lacking unless you see yourself getting into some niche competitive community with it.

Cool style, having a comic appearance and dynamic music depending on what's happening, with writing that has a sense of humour inspired by Douglas Adams. The premise is great, you take the role as a random prisoner with randomized traits hopping from one procedurally generated derelict space craft to another, gathering resources to continue onward. You have a preview as to what's in store before docking onto a ship, letting you know what enemies, resources, and potential hazards are ahead. The general goal of is to hop along until you make it to a ship with a major crafting item to progress with.

That's all well and good, but the game does suffer from repetition. Ships start to feel samey, and progression starts feeling hollow as you upgrade your weapons to do more damage against upgraded enemy types that have more health. I feel that the pacing of the game would be better if it was designed around being run-based, instead of having this lengthier persistent progression. It had me playing less improvisationally and more conservatively, which might be a me thing, but the ammo allocation was reinforcing that as a playstyle.

If I could, I would give the game a neutral recommendation. It's not bad, but it's not a strong enough experience for me to really recommend. Since I'm a half glass empty kind of person, I'll settle giving this one a no.

Recenzie acordată în perioada accesului timpuriu
A game with excellent feeling movement and platforming that has been unfortunately undermined by a reliance on clumsy action mechanics. The early access period on the store page was estimated to be 6 months but the last update was in mid-2018 with levels and characters still inaccessible and no dev communication since. As such, it seems the game has been abandoned.

A short but fun overhead shooter with an emphasis on voxel visuals and destructibility. It took me a little over 3 hours to finish in single player and the trailers on the store page don't mislead you, what you see is what you get here. Most levels have you hunting for a prerequisite amount of power cubes in order to finish, though you don't know the exact amount until you find the end portal.

Aside from that you're blowing through bits of the environment looking for the cubes and fighting enemies along the way. Some level navigation can be a bit annoying due to the number of portals and needing to remember where to backtrack upon finding keycards, but generally it's simple action fun. If you enjoy games with destruction gimmicks like I do, I'd say it's worth your while.

It's Garou, SNK's own Third Strike, and one of the greats. I'm not going to spend this review going into the details of the game itself, that's well worn territory at this point. What's important is that at the time of this review it has recently underwent an overhaul by Code Mystics making it inline with their other SNK ports. It emulates well, and more imperatively has rollback netcode now.

Prior to this update, I wouldn't touch the Steam release of the game, but because of it I immediately bought it. If you want a quality port of a classic fighting game with great online play and want to send a message to SNK that good netcode is important, I'd highly recommend you do too.
