Truly a well-balanced blend of simple, arcade-like mechanics and some stat-crunching depth - Legend Bowl presents a wonderful experience that has eliminated my desire to ever again purchase a yearly release of EA's Madden franchise. The team behind this has crafted a great game for a great price that seems destined to be refined further in both game updates and the burgeoning modding community.

The roster of teams packaged in the game range from cool original concepts to parodies or re-imaginings of current NFL franchises. For example: the New York Jets are the New York Metros - boasting an Islanders color scheme and playing at stadium family with the New York Empire, a black and red take on the Giants. The included team editor lets you change anything about any of the teams, including the standard (but original) roster of players for each. With modding support, you can easily recreate the NFL or incorporate your own logos to make whatever you want if you'd like. Gameplay is easy to understand, but quick - with what appears to be a pretty high skill ceiling. Team rosters and playstyles are intentional and being refined over time as well - Players are not randomly generated, they are crafted to create a roster of teams that truly feel like different teams.

The primary developer behind this all is very receptive of feedback through their official Discord, too - if Legend Bowl looks like something you might enjoy, pick it up. I'm sure it will exceed your expectations and only get better over time. Do you like sports games? Do you want to encourage a return to games made by people with a passion who value the consumer's time, enjoyment, and wallet?

Buy this game, play the tutorial and drop into an exhibition game with a team built on your NFL favorites - or even just one you like the style of - and I bet you'll decide to keep it before that 2-hour return mark, money well-spent.
