The upgrade in terms of graphics might not be as dramatic as seen in Age of Empires II DE but still represent a clear improvement (if you ignore the forced AA which makes things look a tad blurry). Most aspects of the game have been improved, all cards unlocked from the start, better camera control, clearer interface. The addition of 2 new civilisations is great and I love the extra choice of politicians when ageing up.

One annoyance is that they haven't updated the scenario editor interface. At. All. It looked bad way back in 2005 and it looks terrible in 2020.
