As of the writing of this review, 19 minutes ago the official Sony twitter account confirmed that they will be cancelling the upcoming requirement to link your steam account to a PSN account.

The devs have always been on the side of the players, and they successfully negotiated with Sony on our behalf.

Arrowhead are good people. Support them. Support this game. I hope everyone who left a negative review in the past week considers changing it to a positive one on account of this development.
