It is criminal that AAA studios release $100 games that are: broken on release, attempt to extract as much cash from users as possible, and are missing any portion of soul in their creation.

This is underscored when compared to Fear and Hunger. F&H is able to combine a wonderfully complex story and character interactions with stunning art and audio design to elevate the experience and encourage the player to interact with the environmental storytelling.

The game is brutal in terms of difficulty (I have been playing on Terror and Starvation, and side note, that difficulty title made me giggle). Combat is highly lethal, but do not treat it as a stat+gear=beat the baddie. Treat combat, as with many of the other challenges in this game, as puzzles. Things become much easier to handle once you figure out the solution to the puzzles you'll encounter, but of course there is always the risk of RNG not rolling your way. This lends well to the mechanics of the game and the play-style of the different characters, and serve to enhance the player's immersion. Truly a great use of mechanic tropes to subvert player expectations.

Not to grand stand (any further haha), but I really wish that more games with this level of heart are to follow in the industry, and let this be a proof that you don't need to throw millions of dollars into development to produce something that can be held high as a masterpiece of the genre.

Play it. Join the Depths. Praise be to Alll-mer.

The game blends wonderful visuals with engaging gameplay to create an immersive experience to the player. Sad that the game had such a low-effort port, but the game is playable with K+M, but is best suited for a controller.

If this game was a person, it'd be that creepy guy in a white van who offers you candy and takes your virginity instead.

I really, really am disappointed in this game, this studio, and myself for buying into this game.

If it weren't for the fact that I've been on Steam for a while and believe in helping the devs reach their goals, this game could easily have been the bane of early access for me.

A broken game that lures you in with some really promising trailers and potential, and ultimately takes your money and ruins all your hopes in the first 5 mins of the game. It is unfinished and never updated, and when the community tries to ask the devs why, they dismiss you as a "troll" and will likely ban you. I bought the Founders pack for this game to help support the devs; I really wanted this to do well. In a year, this game hasn't gotten much farther than release, and my investment has nothing to show for it.

This game isn't worth the binary used to write this review. Not until a major reality check of the developers happens at least.

Early Access Review
You want a quick overview of the game? Okay, here's one.

You start off in a great game that has a decent enough community (results may vary) which leads you down a road of grinding and having a sense of accomplishment when you finally get the gun that is balanced. Then you grind for more points to get the attachments for it. At the end of the day, you have your own character that you customize to your liking with hard work.

Or you can just pay the devs a boatload of cash and skip all of that to become as OP as superhumanly possible

Long story short, I think the game is good despite some glaring flaws (i.e. Spawns, One-Shot rifles, team balancing, and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spawn queue), but all in all its a pretty good game to pass the time, especially for 'free', but it needs some polishing up, as to be expected of an early-access game.

Thats my $.02

Before we get started on this, I'm going to list some things I found were good.

Artwork.

That's it.

The game isn't broken for me like some other people claim, but it simply is just too repetitive. I can walk to the same 5 locations only, and have a limited selection of what I can use and how to approach a situatuion. The game is literally summed up with "glorified flash game." The window size always leads to me clickng my background operations or my desktop, and has lead to my death at least 3 times. This could easily be fixed by an option to change screen size, or even a fullscreen toggle, but nope, non-existant.

It's a shame since I really enjoy Gonzossm's work outside of this game, and that was the sole driving force in buying this.

Don't be swindled by this game's price, it's not worth the pocket change.
