Have to use mods to get playstation buttons, but they don't work in the precious cash shop. Oddly slapdash controller support in general for the controller interface being better than the default one.

Buy the gold road pack with all the back on sale and save yourself a monthly sub headache nightmare honestly

Post itt if you're also only playing this because your significant other is

i have never had the displeasure of a game give me store popups during a cutscene, also the cutscene wasn't good also the performance of this game is absolutely terrible and not worth messing with further to try to get to work right. when it does kind of work the combat is stiff, terrible, and uninspiring. the madlads at blizzard did it, they made a bad necromancer class also all the other classes

most importantly, you cannot choose the button prompt style

if you paid for this game you are bad and you should feel bad, and instead of being a whiny little b---h about it, get better at not being scammed

First, foremost, and most importantly, Path of Exile 2 continues in Path of Exile's tradition of letting you choose the style of button prompts for your controller regardless of what it detects, which is the gold standard every game worth playing adheres to. Heck Path of Exile 1 even recently fixed controller support quite a bit and doesn't have the XBox prompts for resurrection and a few other places anymore, which is cool.

However this is about Path of Exile 2 and speaking of controller, they actually designed this one to play on a controler as well as a keyboard and mouse with wasd which is rad, and finally moves this genre out of the freakin stone age on giving you a way to do fine control of your chracter without giving you turbo arthritis (just regular arthritis) which is great because...

Finally, PoE with Brainworms For Me! While often described as a "slower" pace I feel like "measured frentic" pace is more accurate. The boss fights are very fun and quite challenging, as you are forced to fight in an often small arena and actually respond to the boss patterns and use the new dodge roll button. Getting damage in involves using the strafing that is now possible while dodging attacks.

While assuredly much more brainmelting is yet to come as content is added to PoE2, the core of the game is obviated much better and it's a lot easier to figure out what you are doing and make good choices just using the game without any third party tools or guides, and the new skill system allows you to actually upgrade your gear without worrying if it has the right number, color, and linked slots.

In conclusion, this game is a lot of fun and everyone who hates it so far is invariably an attention seeking contrarian and/or extremely bad at video games with the soul of a scrub, incapable of observation or improvement. Also GGG wins "most ethical gaming company of the year" award by a country mile for having all your POE1 cosmetics and stash tabs transfer to POE2, and while the early access costs for a key, you also get the equivalent amount in currency, to buy more sweet cosmetics, or stash tabs. I'm looking forward to playing this for several years to come, until the climate collapses in order to create value for shareholders and/or the big wet president gets us all nuked.

this has got to be the most tepid changing of one of my unashamedly one note reviews to recommended i have ever done, but ultimately if it's possible to get buttons that work for me other than the godawful backwards xbox ones, i'll take it. in the most recent update, it was announced that there's an .ini setting to fix an issue someone had on the forum where their pro controller was showing up as an xbox controller with backwards letters and for them, they added a new setting.

in the process..... i noticed a setting that was there the whole time but was never explained before, also in the same setting file that the new a/b x/y swap is in. on the steam deck, you can find the config.ini with the setting in the following location if you have the game installed to your internal memory:

/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2132850/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/RabbitSteel/SaveFileNonSynced/

inside that file, you can change the isPs4Controls_v2 option to the follows:

isPs4Controls_v2="1.000000"

finally! the beautiful and holy shapes as the lord god yoship intended. you can change switchControllerDisplay from 0.00... to 1.00... if you would prefer the Nintendo style button lettering instead of the playstation shapes.

original review as follows:

cute and fun and the ffxiv skills transfer, but unfortunately cannot recommend it until and unless it has a basic accessibility feature found in the game that it is inspired by - being able to pick the type of controller prompts that are in game.

reports as "works fine with my dualsense controller" but has the godawful buttons that are not in fact on my dualsense controller, and there is no way to change them. even worse, this game has the badge for having support for dualsense controllers and i cannot find any way to report this to valve, so good to know that that badge is completely worthless and valve is lying to us once again, and this game developer does not care about accessibility.
