1st, for all of you worried or complaining about tank controls, there is an option in the configuration menu to make guybrush move in relation to the camera, if you wanna go left just press the left arrow, no more turning, get it?

Ok with that excuse people use to trash talk this game aside, it's still very much a monkey island game, with mysticism, humor, 4th wall breaks, and quirky characters.

The voice acting is a great point of the game, none of the lines sound forced and characters sound just like what you'd expect, and they do a great job of showing off emotions such as surprise, doubt, and of course, sarcasm.

The story takes you places you wouldnt expect, and the ordeals and rewards are underwhelming but in an endearing and classic way, such as the big whoop being a creepy theme park instead of treasure in the second game.

In regards to graphics, very few things are actualy made of polygonal models, only items you can interact with and characters, one could say that breaks the immersion and feels like a bad or lazy choice from the developers, but it definitively is an unique style and makes it easier for players to identify what may be important for their quest; the backgrounds are still beautiful and unique even if it may seem like the characters are out of place.

It definitively feels like a monkey island game, and it's not a bad experience at all, in my personal opinion the keyboard controls make you feel more immersed and within the world, rather than just watching and influencing as if it were one of those interactive cd's, but i can understand those against the controls.

that being said, if you overlook that issue specificaly, you will find a pleasant and funny adventure full of jokes, some innuendos, puzzles, and most importantly...

...OH LOOK, A TREE-HEADED MONKEY!

Darkest dungeon is simply one of (if not) the best games themed arround heroes and dungeon crawling.

1 - "heroes"

unique characters and classes wich unique abilities as well, from your crusader to the ocultist, all have exclusive lines that definitively makes you know what kind of character he is

they are humans that try to prove their worth and do their best at work, when suffering humiliation and recieving massive damage, they will lose their minds slowly due to stress causing mental illness

2 - stress

using the factor that can make any living being fall in despair and pain in a game makes you feel related to the hero, even feeling sad on seeing their mind going away slowly due to the eternal disgraçe he must endure to gain the decisive victory
and when you think all is lost...that's when a true hero may also find his resolution and stand up to it's fears, guiding your companions and boosting their morale

3 - details

the graphics are definitively outstanding, the scenario and characters seem like comic book heroes as their drawing fits the style of modern dark and realistic comic drawings, the color scheme fits no matter where you are,the atmosphere hits you, each critical hit close-up makes you feel powerfull (or powerless if the enemy lands...) the expresson of characters when their resolves are tested makes a big impact on the player, worrying if bad and making you raise your fist in the air and say YES!' wen it's a good result

closing statement - Darkest dungeon is like a novel, it will make you smile, it will make you cry, it will make you feel worthless, it will make you feel like nothing can stop you.

i highly recommend this game if what you are searching for is a game that makes you his rug, but also a friend sometimes, and if you want thrill and exciment

if you don't fall in love (and at somepoint, rage) with this game...no...this experience, once the ruins battle theme plays, you may need a doctor
