This game opened up the horizons of combining previously unrelated words into new swears, typically with "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" repeated six times in the mix.

Buy it today.

It's hard to say exactly what's the best thing about this game. From its incredible soundtrack to its exciting battles, I cannot find any part of this game I do not like. I was pleasantly surprised to find that unlike many other "strategy" games I've played, this one actually felt like it required a strategy to win. I haven't fought with all factions yet so I haven't expierenced fights with many different kinds of units, but combat feels well-balanced (except with the Gauls and Britons, whose hordes of disorderly footsoldiers are easily crushed, making wars with them a bit too easy and not as exciting).

Directing combat is easy, though units like Equites and the general's bodyguard are not fire and forget and require attention, which may make directing large armies a bit overwhelming, but that may just be me. The interface for controlling your units is simple enough to understand easily, and issuing commands is what you'd expect it to be.

On to the world map: There's nothing extremely special about it, but managing towns sometimes requires a bit of its own strategizing. I have terrible governing skills, so a few towns at a time that I've conquered will be having riots, and not many of my towns will have governors in them to keep order. This can prove inconvenient in situations when there are multiple towns that need attention. But hey, maybe you can do better. Every part of this game is strategy through and through.

I may not have gone over every explicit detail of the game in this review, but I give it a ten out of ten. It may be old, but for people who are tired of extremely repetitive strategy games, it's definitely something new.
