Tutorial is garbage
I know the reviews for this game are going up because of the new content updates. So I thought hmm, maybe I should give this a try finally. But, when I started up a world I was thrown on a planet immediately getting radiation with next to no clue what to do. The UI is a complete cluster ♥♥♥♥ and the graphics look like animated photo graphs. There is nothing showing you what keys to press so you can actually do the tutorial, and this is all while you are getting warnings that your radiation levels are going down...

I really wanted to give this game a chance so I decided to overlook everything so far and hope I didn't run into anything else.. . . Then I got into my ship, and recieved a giant blue chat box telling me my ship was damaged and that I had no idea where or who i was... . "tell me something i don't know"... . if the chat box was only telling me what I was my character was thinking, regardless of how dumb it was, I could probably have overlooked it, but it was giving me ship diagnostic info when there is a screen right behind the giant blue text box that has THE EXACT SAME THING WRITTEN ON IT... like is this chat box just meant to break my immersion and piss me off.

I refunded the game, the unrealistic mushrooms that "wave in the wind", the tutorial that makes me more confused then helps, and the completely unnecessary chat box was just too much garbage in the first 10 minutes of the game...

you guys over at Hello Games, I understand you want to make a good game, but when steam gives us the ability to refund your game on first impressions. Your first job should be to make sure those first impressions are good, because how am I supposed think about the rest of the game when you can't even get these little things right?

I'm dissapointed with the quality of the game at early release, there were more then a few things wrong with the game that has really ruined my enjoyment of it.

does that make this a bad game... no... It is and probably forever will be a good game, it just is VERY rouph around the edges atm, and the developers are listening so I imagine sooner rather then later it will become a GREAT game.

excuse my spelling mistakes steam doesnt have a built in auto correct even though it tells me ive spelt it wrong.

The game starts off nice, and has alot going for it however the progression slows down fast... Before you even get close to the end game stuff you just end up sitting around waiting for a bunch of ships to mine astroids all so you can make another ship to mine astroids... rinse repeat...

for the devs: what this game needs in my opinion is more dynamic / strategy driven battles / ship construction.. a few ideas i came up in ma head...: a block that takes alot of power and fires an unmoving lazer damage scales with size- easily destroyed- : more emphases on blocks usage/placement at the moment making giant armored plates is best way to defend your ships "important" parts, make it harder to defend those (dono how) and make it so that crew has an easier time repairing such parts so that during fights it would be strategicaly smart to position your ship so those parts dont get hit... etc etc...

ps I cant spell and cant be bothered to fix the spelling when steam doesnt have a auto-checker

Great Game... dont write reviews often but this game reminds me of the old flash games... except this is fleshed out and has some proper mechanics that id imagine with friends would be HEAPS of fun

In its hey day this game was probably lined up and armed to become one of the most "fun" competitive creative based "building" game... with everything from OP one shot set ups (with proper counters) to straight up BOSS BATTLES where you and 10-20 people whent up against someone of a higher lvl's mega ship.... it was EPIC and fun for both sides... then... they changed the game... and it got worse with each update...

i dont know what order the horrific changes that murderd the enjoyability of this game were as i left it for a bit due to... internet issues... but im going to list the changes that KILLED this game for me..

before i start i just want to say balancing in my eyes is ONLY good for a game when there is ZERO counter and everyone is using the same strat... because broken wackey tactics that are op.... not only add fun but make being creative (which is what this game seems to stress) actualy rewarding... now onward to the list

1. making everyone have the same CPU cap... if you dont know this is the limit to the size of your robot... before it was based on your level... with a very high level cap you could get some pretty monsterously sized robots... with crazy strats.. and build options... this also allowed you to be very creative with what you robot actualy looked like.. in one boss battle i remember seeing what looked like an old iron clad battle ship it was devestatingly awsome...

2. making weapons fire seperatly / acting as a single weapon... so basicly how weapons used to work is that when you put guns on your robot you added their damage their firerate and so on... now if you put more then one of a single type of weapon you are simply adding increased fire rate.. Thats it... for instance you used to be able to cram a bunch of plasma cannons on your robot and fire them all at once doing devastating damage hard to aim due to the weapon drop and often unreliable because they take time to fire again but still its far better then just having it up the fire rate... it rewards players finding how how to cram the most weapons onto their robot without killing its mobility

3. the energy system... im ok with this change but it still massivly limits you as EVERYONE has the same energy limits the massive guns (which are WAY too big since you can only get a cpu of 2k ie.. the look super derpy unless you use them in a perticuler manner) but you can only sustain their fire for a short time then thats it your done you either have to run for your life or hope they dont shoot them off before you get enouph energy to do another volley which mind you takes time... this creates a meta that i have noticed... its ether you go big weapons and burst (which mind you NEVER kills someone making KSing WAY too easy).. or you try and make the fastest robot you can and run circles around them blasting with small cheap weapons (which takes forever... often times they can just run back to their base and regen)

their used to be a game i played called final fantasy tactics war of the lions... this was a single player game.. but non the less a BRILLIANT game.. it was both balanced and broken... it rewarded players on using clever combos and strategys that could DECAMATE the enemy... when balancing is taken too far its like going to your childs baseball game and watching him get a trophy for losing... fair is not fun... when people get their asses handed to them they dont give up they change thier tactics...

PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD WAYS OF THIS GAME.... "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN"
