I must say Arma 3: Contact greatly represents the feeling of military tension between 2 forces. When I was going through my first playthrough, I had a "♥♥♥♥ is about to go down" feeling through the first portion of the game.

You'll get new gear, weapons, and vehicles, with unique features made just for this DLC. It isn't any gimmick either that you'll use once in a mission.
