Spit on your hands and hoist the JOLLY ROGER! This is a FUN game that has moments of intense awesomeness. It is also, at times, a highly frustrating game that leaves you wondering what to do and how to do it. Lets' go over the stuff I really liked, or the HOT.

The battles are intense. When you are in the thick of things, firing off your canon, directing and manoeuvring your ship to broadside your enemies (often more than one at a time), boarding / ramming your opponents, and pumping out water / fixing holes in your ship... This game is awesome. I felt my heart pumping and my adrenaline running, something I don't experience too often in games lately.

The NOT - well, lets keep in mind this is an early access game, and the developers have time to make changes and add in some of the suggestions that the community gives them. That said...

The tutorial system needs to be both expanded on (it is too quick, and does not have you do any of the actions). Instead of going over the basics and letting you (try) to figure out as you go... They should make it an interactive tutorial. Something like "welcome to your ship - here's how you load the canon (make you do it), here's how you aim it (press up and down), here's how you gauge the distance to your enemy ship, etc. Really go into depth, as it was frustrating and a lot of missing / trial and error.

I also think the developers need to better explain the various game modes and why you might choose one over the other.

Also, WHERE IS THE RUM? I don't want a bottle of something random in my inventory, I want RUM! I want to hit someone with a rum bottle.

This game is based around the psychology of Carl Jung and it is very interesting. HOT: This game has a great concept, revolving around archetypes. This is a big part of Jungian psychology and makes for a very interesting premise.

Socratic dialogue! Not only do you meet the various archetypes, you engage in Socratic style dialogue. Big thumbs up.
The visuals and art work was nicely done, particularly the still shots and the creepy aesthetic.

NOT

I didn't like the maze or labyrinth - I found it tedious and unnecessary. Getting lost was too easy and took up too much of my time. I also don't think the obstacles added any value. Fire, spiders, spinning blades, etc. I also found the game to be a bit expensive.
