The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, was released 5 years ago, in 2011 and was created by Bethesda, who have also created Morrowind, Oblivion and the Fallout franchise. I decided that it was about time that I got around to playing it. So these are my thoughts on Skyrim.

Just so you are aware, Skyrim was my first ever Elder Scrolls game that I have played. It was also my very first Bethesda game. Yes, that’s correct. I’ve NEVER played any of the Fallout games either. I do promise I will get around to playing them at some point!

So, starting with Skyrim, it was incredible. However, the game was slowly starting to get pretty overwhelming with the amount of lore that was available. There were SO many books and SO many areas to explore with information to be had that it was completely mind-boggling. It was a good kind of overwhelmed though, because it just goes to show how much time and effort Bethesda has put into such an amazing game and franchise.

I decided for my first playthrough to go along the lines of being a Nord, which turned out to be quite a good choice since Skyrim is the home of the Nord, so I was pretty satisfied with my decision. I am a very big fan of games that have a lot of customization, and this game is no exception. From skin tone to chin size, you can make the character your own.

What I love about Skyrim is how you can decide what combat style you will play as. You could be a dual wielding rogue style character, a 2-hand wielding warrior, or a magic user. But then these can all turn into different styles themselves. For mage, for example, you could decide to become a vampire, and use vampire abilities. Personally, I went for the dual-wielding style since I love fast attacking characters. For the longest time during my game play also, I went primarily with dual-wielding swords and giving them fantastic names like ORC SLASHY FIRE THING. I am amazing at naming weapons. Which was another thing I enjoyed about the game.

Crafting. I freaking loved the crafting in the game, and spent many an hour just going from town to city collecting ore and bars to smelt and craft weapons at the smith. I also really enjoyed the enchanting in the game, where you could indeed rename your weapon while enchanting your weapons or armor with pretty nifty bonuses like increasing your characters stamina or being able to use a weapon with fire. FIRE!

One of my most favorite things about Skyrim though has to be how big the world feels. The world of Skyrim is massive. Sure, you can fast travel to various points once you have discovered them, but I find myself more or less walking to the majority of places in the game and what you can discover from doing this is fantastic. You could be making your way to point A for a quest, then find a cave, so you go and explore the cave. You could then find a random camp and kill everyone there. Might then end up finding a village and talking to everyone there. The views in Skyrim are also outstanding. Just being able to look for miles in every direction, the views are breathtaking.

Another thing I love about Skyrim is how crazy the skill tree is. Whenever you level up, you get to decide whether or not to level up your magika, health or stamina. Once you choose, you then get a perk. You can save these up until you get to a particular level in one of the many skill options. From Destruction to skills like Smithing, One-handed weapons and more, you have the freedom to choose how you level up your character, and I loved this so much! The way I personally decided to level up my character was to level up enchanting, smithing, heavy armor and one-handed weapons. I also dived into leveling up speech whenever I could as well. Of course, you can only put perks into each of these trees once you get to a specific level. For example, you need to level up in game your smithing, by creating weapons/armor, in order to use a perk within. Sounds complicated? Not so much. Just very intricate which is great.

With Skyrim, you are able to mod the game. On steam, the community hub is filled to the brim with mods which can add things to the game, remove things to the game and tweak the game to way you like it. With me playing the game for the very first time, I wanted to play as “vanilla” as possible. However, I decided after playing for a little while, to get a mod to make the bag UI easier to use, which is called SkyUI. It’s a great little mod that turns your bag into a more grid-style layout, which makes navigating a lot easier.

Overall, I freaking love this game. What I also love is the fact that in reality, you can never truly finish it. There are just so many things that you can discover and do, which explains why so many people have hundreds, if not thousands of hours in the game. Of course you have the DLC too, which I did not play, however whenever I get around to continuing the game at some point in the future, I will for sure be checking these out.

If you love open world games that you can just lose yourself in, play Skyrim.

This is a game that I have been looking forward to for at least 2 and a half years. I have wanted to have a game on the PC that had the elements of harvest moon (for the little bit I played of it), Animal crossing (<3) and Rune factory. I was super excited when I was approached by Leth (publishing manager at Chucklefish) at the beginning of December to help him and ConcernedApe (developer of the game) with bug testing and QA. 400+ hours later (off steam and on steam), I still love the game.

Farming. The farming is fantastic. It is to me one of the main elements of the game, and it's just a joy. Being able to design your farm any way you want it... yes please. Planning out what to buy every season, where to plant them, on top of the thrill of when you can harvest and reap on the gold... it's so enjoyable and addictive.

Fishing. The fishing is outstanding. From playing WoW and Runescape.. or any game with fishing, the fishing in Stardew Valley is so much fun. At first, the fishing is challenging, but as you progress your skill, you become a pro in no time.

Mining and combat. Mining and combat is incredible. Going deeper into the mines can be tough, but if you're prepared with your food and weapon in hand, you can fend off the creatures and get your sweet ore/minerals/gems that you want to bring back to your house and possibly hoard. (Hi, I'm Bexy, and i'm a hoarder.)

Social. Social interactions are great. Being able to become friends with the people in the town, and eventually being able to get into relationships with people and having a family with them.. what's not to like about that? And what's great is that it gives great replayability because you can have different saves with different spouses! The backstory for each of the characters too is so in depth and well thought out, you will be silly if you don't shed a tear maybe once or twice.

Main story. The actual main story is well rewarding, and once you "complete" it, you can still continue on your adventures and farming life with no problems, hell you might even discover new things afterwards, I sure as hell did!

Yes, I was a tester for the game. Yes, I have played for ridiculous amounts of hours. It may feel like i'm being a bit overzealous with this. However you have to remember, I was a tester. I tested the crap out of every aspect with this game, even though there were massive game breaking bugs, errors, glitches, crashes. I still love this game. I reported many a bug, and ConcernedApe was quick to fix them.

And that's the thing, not only is the game amazing, the developer is too. ConcernedApe works around the clock to make sure that bugs are fixed in quick time in order for us to have an amazing experience with this game. And that's true. The experience that you have with this game IS amazing.

Minutes playing turn into hours. Hours turn into "oh no it's time to sleep".
You will forget about time. You will forget about sleep. You will forget that dinner was about 5 hours ago but you couldn't' remember because you were too busy trying to fight off 12 bats that were clobbering you inside the mines while trying to gather that 1 diamond waaaaay in the back.

So yes, I without a shadow of a doubt 150% recommend this game to anyone that wants to "escape" for days on end with what I am classifying as my #1 Game of 2016.

Yar! So I heard you would like to become a pirate? Well look no further, because this game is a FANTASTIC pirate game! Coming from someone that has never played an AC game, I thought this game was incredible. I, however got frustrated at some of the stealth missions during the game, however I think that comes down to my lack of knowledge of the game mechanics for the AC stealth, so I wouldn't let that destroy my thoughts on the game! The ship fights are fantastic, and you could just go on a constant fight cycle for possibly hours on end, it never ends! So many places to explore, so much booty to loot, and the missions are fantastic, and would highly recommend doing it all if you want to enjoy yourself in this game!
Also, the graphics in the game are STUNNING! I can't get over how good just little things looked, like rocks etc, to the vast forests and oceans!
The soundtrack in the game is also fantastic. That plus the shanties that you get for your crew to sing is amazing.
Overall this is a brilliantly thought out game, and a must have for all players that have either any love for the AC franchise or, like me, just want a good pirate simulator!
HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended!

I cannot believe how much this game touchs you and pulls at your heartstrings.
I have never in all my life played a game that made me openly weep for about 30 minutes.
The game is just such an emotional and thrilling experience, it is worth every moment you play it.
I would suggest if you were to play this game, I would play it in one sitting, because I believe the impact will be far greater than it would if you had a break from the game.
I will not say much more, only that people should BUY this game! Everyone owes it to themself to play this game.
Wow.... such emotion. Fantastic game.

I finished this game last night live on stream. It took me about 3 weeks of playing for about 3/4 hours per night. It is a fantastic game with an incredibly amazing storyline and well thought out characters. The game is left open for replayability because of the way you can a) pick different characters/background b) the way you can delivery yourself to the AI in the game and c) the difficulties. I played the game on Normal throughout, however I could easily go back and play it on Easy for a more RPG style type of game or on a higher difficulty for a more stategic style type of game, which I will most likely do.
The music as well in the game is fantastic.

I would highly recommend this game for anyone who enjoys diving into a vast world with lots of story and characters where you can pick how you play! 10/10 from me!

Finished this game yesterday live on stream. It's an amazing game. The storyline is well written and changes on how you play, so it also adds value due to the replay value. The graphics are stunning for the type of game (i.e. comic book style) and you can finish an episode within a few hours give or take on how good/bad you are at point and click / QE's. I would highly HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone that has a love for the walking dead franchise, or just want a good point and click game that adapts to your playstyle!

Finished this game from start to finish in about 4 and a half hours and I have to say, it is definately one of my favourite games! The narration alone makes the game somewhat fantastic, let alone the music of this game! THE MUSIC.... My god it's just incredible. The gameplay is very fun as well, but I do suggest that you play it with controller, cause I did play part of the game with keyboard, and switching to controller made it much more easier to handle.
Would definately play this game again in my spare time if I wanted a little bit of fun, and to complete it 100% :)

MUST BUY!
