I'm reviewing this game at the stage of early access .
The Forest is a fantastic game with very good graphics apart from some low textures. Performance wise, it consumes alot of power due to the poor optimization that will be improved over the time with new patches. I've seen many people on the forums saying they are running the game at 30 frames per second and 90°C .

From what I've read the game is coded by only a team of 4 guys (although I think their team is bigger now) so patches and further updates do take a lot of time to be released.
Now, back to the graphics, the ambient is so beautiful and immersive .
The horror part of the game comes from the mutants (or cannibals) that are very creepy and of course, stronger than you.
The inhabitants of the jungle are completely terrifying and will climb trees and hunt after you , leaving you in a cave surround by bodies.
The crafting system is interesting and well formed. Trees toppling is amazing to watch and I can't wait for more features, including CO-OP to be added to this alpha.

Overall, if you like this game and want to help the devs and you can bear some bugs, I'd say buy this game as it will definitely be worth the money.

It's a waste of time. The game is horrid. I don't know why so many people like this..
