Early Access Review
Bought mountains of butter for 10 gold apiece
Sold them to a city that just endured a brutal siege for 25 each
10/10 would exploit the suffering of AI citizens for profit again.

Game is very fun, basically Squad but in WW2. My review previously mentioned instability issues, which seem to have been fixed. However my primary complaint, that of easily abused mechanics being abused with no way to prevent the abuse, is still valid. There needs to be some sort of punishment mechanic for creating a squad and leaving it.

Additionally the community has been going downhill with alarming speed. PS' gameplay is squad-based, wherein someone has to create a "section" in order for people to join and get specialty roles like sapper, engineer, grenadier, medic, sharpshooter, machinegunner, etc. That person who creates the "section" is then the leader of that section, responsible for setting move and attack markers, coordinating assaults and defenses, generally leading their squad. For a while this worked reasonably well, however it has stopped working as intended. More often than not, squad leaders will create a section in an attempt to score a particular specialty, and then ban people from the squad who get it before them, or leave the squad altogether. You can join another squad, but it's almost certain the specialty slots will already be full, or if by some miracle you do get one, you can look forward to being kicked from the squad again.

This mechanic is grossly abusable, and is being abused repeatedly. It absolutely needs fixing to encourage teamwork and actual leadership.

Do I enjoy this game? Yes, yes I do. It is a magnificently immersive world with a seemingly impossible number of in game hours simply from base content. I've played this for 5.5 hours on PC, and over 70 on console from before I had a good enough computer to run it.

This is an amazing game, and very worthy of the studio from which it came.

That said. I write a review now, the first review I have ever written for a steam game, because Valve and Bethesda think they can convince us to pay for mods. Modd without quality control. Without a refund system. Without even supporting the modders, who only get 25% of the final sale, IF the sales eclipse $400. That is a load of crap, and I won't be a part of it.

So, Bethesda, Valve, I can't really do much to stop you except vote with my wallet, which is what I am doing. There is an excellent chance Fallout 4 will be announced at this E3, or some other very exciting new Bethesda game. I will not be pre-ordering these games. If Bethesda continues to support paid mods, I will not buy these games. If Valve continues to support paid mods, I will not purchase from Steam.

It's not much, but its what I can do.
