Better than any other Souls or Souls-like game you've ever played. More approachable, more depth, better story, better gameplay, etc. Great game progression without holding your hand. Encourages and rewards organic exploration like no other game. Game of the Year 2022.

Plays like co-op S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with DayZ elements. Rough around the edges but accomplished a lot for such an ambitious indie game in this over-saturated genre. Definitely more content than what meets the eye. AI is a nice touch. Survival aspects work well in their basic form but need to be fleshed out more. Questing system is better than expected. Looking forward to where this game goes with a little TLC.

The game that started the wave of post-apocalyptic zombie survival pvp games. Probably the most adrenaline-inducing game of all time when it comes to raw open-world pvp. That being said, you need A LOT of time and patience to play this game, but if you can look past all of it's flaws, you'll recognize something truly unique and refreshing. The problem is the devs took on a massive under-taking by rewriting the core engine of the game from scratch following the massive sales after EA release, and the lack of publicly-released builds reflects that. However, they are finally getting to the point where they have replaced most of the legacy technology behind the game and there will soon be a massive dam of content/feature backlog that will be broken. If you can wait it out, do it. The game hasn't reached it's full potential yet, but I strongly believe it will once it's fully fleshed out to be all that it can.

Metro 2033 has an well-detailed, immersive atmosphere and compelling story. Some of the best graphics for its time. Even holds up really well now, especially with the lighting and particle effects. The sound design is top notch as well. Each gun feels distinct and powerful. Well thought-out, unique mechanics like the gas mask are a nice touch and really add to the immersion (it's really cool when you see the mask frost up in the cold or crack up when it gets damaged). It was a little ridiculously difficult at times, and the AI can take a while sometimes to carry out their scripted actions, but once you push past, you'll be glad you did.

If you and your friends even have a remote interest in loot-based dungeon crawlers, pick up this game, and have them do it too.
