I am 26 years old, currently renting, never owned a home. I have decided to start saving for my first home. I have read many articles of home buying and mortgages, but there is so much conflicting information. I really do not understand all of the steps involved in the buying process, and I cannot seem to get a consistent mortgage payment estimate. Every website that estimates your mortgage payment gives me very different numbers. I'd like to buy a house $150,000 or under. One website estimated $600 per month, another told me $900. How can I figure this out, what numbers do I need to "crunch"?
