A fantastic idea. Despite playing in perfect lighting conditions, I had to recalibrate the webcam every few minutes because the blink-tracking kept dropping out. The themes are very good, but I found the writing and performances a little lacklustre - especially compared to something like What Remains of Edith Finch, which it strongly evokes. I'm more impressed with the concept than the moment-to-moment game experience. It's still unique and worth trying, but keep your expectations moderate.

I'd be astonished by the negative reviews of this game if I'd never seen online discussions about the publisher. Judged purely as a game experience, with no history or context or price consideration, it's simply phenomenal. Getting all the DLC on top of the three base games (TW Warhammer 1, 2 and 3) is expensive, but the base games alone with no paid DLC already provide a huge amount of entertainment if you can let go of the FOMO. Will the behaviour of Creative Assembly ruin the game for you? I dunno, I don't pay attention to that stuff. Log off and play games, that's my advice.

Bit of a learning curve, but it's an extremely good tactics game with a manageable pace for those of us who are neither whippers nor snappers

For lovers of shadowy plots, Byzantine schemes and asynchronous multiplayer. There's a learning curve, but it adds up to a unique experience. Among board-game-style asynchronous multiplayer games, this is second only to Through the Ages.

It's pretty good! But I miss the straightforwardness of the previous game. The tactical combat of this game is a clear improvement, but the strategic progression layer is a bit over-complicated and gets exhausting.

I want to like historical Total War games, really I do. But it's hard for them to compete with Viking Troll Army vs Weirdpunk Rat Army, or Aztec Dinosaur Army vs Pirate Zombie Army, or Comedy Goblin Army vs Holy Roman Empire With Tanks And Rocket Launchers Army, or...

Recommending with a very big caveat: if you ever get motion sickness from computer games, like I do, this might be simply unplayable for you. I've played enough and heard enough to know that I like this game, but I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to really play it.

This game is a rough hang in many ways. It's a product of 1990s CRPG design and 1980s TTRPG design, with all their faults. It follows the D&D rules pretty faithfully, which were never intended for a computer game. Each character is pretty complex, and unlike in a real D&D session you have to manage six of them at once. There are way too many spells to get your head around right from the start. There are way too many enemies who can kill your party members instantly, and resurrecting them can be a pain so save scumming is basically required.

But the narrative is great, and if you get sick of dealing with finicky combat you can always switch to story mode and blast through without worrying about half the combat mechanics. The characters and the strange encounters are what will stick with you after it's done.
