9800x3d and 4090 running at 1440p. I've tried all settings - low, epic, dlss, the game stutters and runs like dog meat. It's just not enjoyable in this state. Visual glitches everywhere, rebound controls don't work. Every time I launch the game it recompiles shaders and forgets I had my mouse inverted. HDR is busted and will make scenes either overly dark or both overly dark and overexposed at the same time!

For the record I get about 90 fps at 1440p with DLAA on Epic. 120 fps on Low. The stuttering makes the game feel like 20 fps, so there's no reason to not just play on Epic. I'm going to wait a few months and try again. It's far worse than Remnant 2 was at launch.

Quality is very inconsistent. Game feels like it needed another year. First few levels are a chore, then the middle section picks up and the game is actually quite great, and then the final stretch is just awful. No enemy placements, just wave after wave and it drags on.

Flashes of brilliance in a sea of mediocrity.

I'm still gonna try to finish it, but it's pants compared to the first two. Puzzles just aren't as good, and the rewards are almost always pointless amounts of coins or critical hit upgrades, in a game where coins are worthless and combat is almost nonexistent. In the first two games, getting coins to buy upgrades was a pivotal part of solving many puzzles, but that just isn't the case here, aside from the first two pickaxe upgrades, I suppose.

The general themes are political and offputting. Negative against capitalism, but in a "you agree with us, right?" way, not a clever or nuanced way. In the end, everyone turns into gay communists or something I guess. There's also a gay couple in this children's themed game, and possibly a polyamorous group as well. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and viewpoints, but if you're going to put these things at the forefront of a game, at least present it in an entertaining or clever way.

One thing that stood out to me as a really missed opportunity was when you enter the Baron's house to fix the toilet, and there's no toilet. There's a mild running gag involving all the toilets being poop buckets, and it would have been a good joke to make the baron's toilet a poop bucket, albeit maybe a golden one. And the gag being why would a plumber need to fix a bucket?

The concept would work if this was some kind of mystery investigation simulator, like a braindance in Cyberpunk. As a walking simulator/horror/really bad storytelling game, it sucks.

The game sucks. It's clunky, blurry, the weapons are trash, and the levels are all the same. Why they chose a cheesy one-hit-kill design is beyond my comprehension. This is the worst implementation of this concept I could imagine.

It's good. Probably better than the base game because the world is more coherent, but there is still an unnecessary amount of obscure nonsense that doesn't do much for the game.

The weapons, enemies, and levels are all very good.

There are some issues with the controls, where mouse sensitivity is not granular enough and the game does not remember your vertical inversion setting.

My main gripe is the visual aesthetic forcing on a dark red dithering filter the entire time that gives me a headache, and there is no option to turn it off. In every other Unity boomer shooter game there is an option to turn off these ridiculous shaders, but not here.

It's not a bad game. It feels a lot like Immortal Redneck, but only about half as good.

Pros:
Game is somewhat addicting if you're a completionist.
Looks pretty good once you turn the post processing to low.
Framerate is really good.
Guns are satisfying to use.
There are some good encounters that will put you on your feet.

Cons:
Sound design is awful. The machine gun sounds like a wet fart and a lot of the monster sounds make no sense. And holy piss the low health sound is the worst I've ever heard. If you can't find a health pickup, it never stops.
Ammo capacity and pickups for secondary weapons are too stingy.
No unlocks. Can't increase ammo capacity or learn spells or unlock weapons. I think this would have been a better approach to what this game has.
Traveling between stages can be tedious.
If you try to get all the runes for every level, it can be a pain in the ass. Certain exits and certain runes can be very hard to find, usually involving a single obscure wall switch.
Most enemies just spew projectiles your direction with no pattern or strategy. The usual solution is to stutter step in one direction then jump over the projectiles and then repeat, which isn't really the spirit of a "bullet hell".
Most encounters last way too long. You don't clear a room. You clear a room 10 times in a row, because the enemies keep replenishing for some reason. That doesn't make it harder, it just makes it more tedious.
The names of the levels are symbols. Good luck having people write level guides for your game.

OH YEAH BY THE WAY:
FLOORS THAT KILL YOU. I HAVE DIED TO MONSTERS 0 TIMES. BOSSES 3 TIMES. THE FLOOR 15 TIMES. I AM NOT KIDDING. THE MOVEMENT IS TOO FLOATY FOR HALF THE FLOORS IN THE GAME TO INSTAGIB YOU. MY TOE BRUSHED A LAVA WATERFALL THAT LOOKED LIKE DECORATION AND MY BODY EXPLODED IN FLAMES.
