Reading reviews might give one the impression that this is a bad expansion. It is not, by any stretch of the imagination. And from what I read it's all just complaints about the story, not the game proper.

The story:
FF14's biggest selling point is arguably the well written story (for the most part). This expansion comes after the drama and high stakes closure of Shadowbringers and Endwalker, and tires to present a plotline with a lot less stakes, to have us a break from al lthe world shaking threats. It focuses a lot more on worldbuilding, and honestly feels like a coming-of-age story for Wuk Lamat. On a personal opinion, I find this a good choice, as just adding more and more drama is bound to make any story feel pointless and tiring in the long run. We've seen enough of those in other games.

The graphical upgrades:
This is a high point of the expansion. Texture, shadows, materials, hell even the ground got a lot better. You really have to see how the gold glitters, compared to the old game.

The gameplay:
More of the same, though some classes got reworked, so muscle memory can and will trip you up. Healers still don't get any damage rotation. The combat still holds the same pacing, and bosses are constantly trying to get you to pay attention to the animations instead of just the orange markers on the grounds, something that has already been a trend for years now.

In short:
A worthy expansion to FF14. After the universe saving of Endwalker we were solely in need of downtime. The new world gives the writing team a much needed blank canvas for worldbuilding instead of having to wrangle 10 years' worth of loose ends. The graphics upgrades are phenomenal, while the gameplay is just what you always expected.

Yeah 100% recommended if you have the game itself. Also Wuk Lamat is an orange cat with all the mental and physical behaviour that entails.

After Sony finally caved in, an actual review.

Helldivers 2 is a satirical coop shooter that is probably the most fun you can have with your pants on in this year. It's chaotic, it's buggy (you can shoot a lot of them), but oh so much fun. You will laugh cry, and salute the flag, all in the name of democracy. Without Sony mucking about, it is worth every super credits.

Yes, but there is a big but in there. The game lacks an exit save, or any similar function, which means if real life calls, you are going to lose all of your progress. This can mean multi-hour runs.

The only way to circumvent this somewhat is to change the difficulty settings on death penalties.

Other than that, very atmospheric and fun game.

In all honesty for the price, you get a really fun racing game. Graphics is good enough, sound won't revolutionise the industry to put it midly, cars feel like bricks in a shopping cart, but it's definitely easy to pick up and have fun with. And there is a lot of fun to be had, the game has a very large set of races.

Edit: After many more hours of playing, I can definitely say, the biggest challenge is the camera. You really don't see the turns in time, and a few maps even have them pbscured by trees with the fixed angle.

Early Access Review
Don't let the blocky graphics fool you, there is an extrememly solid game under it. This is what Battlefield aspires to be.

This is honestly a game of the year contender right from the get go. It is simply a joy to play.

It is what it says on the tin. You dig up tanks (or some average Joe finds one somewhere) and you restore them. Maybe put them in your museum, or spray some gaudy paintjob on them.

This game knows what it is and does it well, but nothing more. You can probably decide if you will like this game from the store page thanks to this.

The original game had an overhang in its learning curve. Yet it still received a place in history of gaming. With this, that barrier have been taken down.

Now I will not lie. The game is niche, it is not for everyone, it is rather slow paced, it's also very unforgiving. But it sets out a goal of trying to simulate a whole world, while you try to shepherd a hapless group of dwarf colonists through it. And it delivers to a spectacular degree.

Yup definite recommend. Stylish graphics, matching music and sounds, little messages on the bottom of cars that you will flip, enjoyable driving. What's not to love?

The narration is phenomenal, the writing is good, it's just honestly a really fun audiobook about a group of loyalist sodiers operating in the chaos of Brigador's events.
