Just finished the main campaign. As someone who has played frostpunk over and over and over and over, this is definitely NOT like the original frostpunk. As the city grows, you, the player, now has a very macro view of the city. You no longer build houses or cookhouses, you build housing districts and industrial districts. This sets a very different tone from the original because you do not feel like you're in the trenches with the common people. People are now numbers on the screen. In the original frostpunk, every death hurt and the chiming bell made your heart sink. Here, 500 people die and you don't even flinch. This game is a move towards a typical sim game. I don't believe the creators were inviting comparisons to the original. They have tried to create a middle ground between the original and city skylines.
The graphics aren't as detailed as they were in the original. The city looks and feels cartoonish. Frostland is breathtaking though. Laws and research systems are very complex and will take a few tries to learn.
The game introduces politics and complexity like never before. The challenges are meaningful and very well executed. The overhaul of scouts, settlements, expansion etc all of it is phenomenal. The game lives up to its reputation in terms of gameplay and mechanics. Definitely recommended.

Really good game

It looks bad. The graphics are horrible. It's more intricate than the previous ones, lots of new dynamics added. But visually it's just BAD. I prefer CIV 5 so much more.
