Saying this DLC is horrible is eufemism. Didn't know the storm they were talking about was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

After Hopoo sold it to a mediocre company, I set my expectations really low and they still managed to greatly disappoint.
I think most people already made a point about the bugs, there are so many you might as well call this Risk of Entomophobia. Screen doesn't flash when hit, no sound when hit, items glitching out, enemies clipping through the ground, bosses not spawning, skills getting locked, character freeze - it's like a gourmet buffet for Timon & Pumbaa.

Some people are saying it's not the devs fault, that they've been rushed and pressured to release it, but honestly there are so many things wrong with it that it doesn't seem strictly like a higher ups fault. The designers dropped the ball hard too. Through the Earth's crust at that.

If we look at the items, most of them are nearly useless and have no synergy with the game at all. Not only that, they absolutely lack creativity, my pet hamster has more ingenuity stacking the pile of bedding than this. The new elites are nonsensical and boring to fight, they are needlessly tanky and their effects go against the core idea of the game in an inane manner. New survivors are as badly designed as my drawings as a 7 year old (I'm no artist). One of them has worse than PS2 era animations, the other feels horribly stuttery/clunky, and the Seeker has to execute a lame minigame and stand still for her special - in a game where you can't stand still. All of them feel worse than low effort modded characters.

The final boss is utterly anticlimatic. For example, Mithrix fight is epic in many ways. From the impact of his hammer on every swing, the spinning door Slam & Jam™ attack and the way he steals all your power in the last phase to how cool the arena looks and his gigachad imposing aura, everything is done well. Voidling is arguably even more epic. You descent (in contrast to ascending vs Mithrix) into The Nothing® and a HUGHMUNGUS space crab WARPS IN like a boss (literally) into a wide and amazing arena, you chase after him through dimensions and it feelsSOgoodman. But this one... oh boy... nothing about him feels nearly as impactful. He just shows up and stands there menacingly, the fight itself isn't that interesting and thematically it has less soul than me dying 5 times in a row in DS1 trying to platform the stupid big tree before Ash Lake for the first time - and less depth than Lost Izalith, which is saying something.

The lore also had a big drop in quality. Hopoo managed to, much like DS, tell a good story through visuals, no dialogues, clever descriptions and a lot of original charm. The new item descriptions lack any substance, prime example: Unstable Transmitter. All the new lore just feels as empty as my dating history.

They had almost 2 years to work on this. Yeah, the leaders/corporate heads probably had a big part in dragging it into the depths of the Amazon rainforest as far as bug variety goes, but it doesn't seem like the company as a whole is very competent, aside from the art design. I'd give the content at max 5/10, maybe 6 if being generous.

The only good things in this DLC are the stages, which are artistically beautiful, and the music. Chris is an absolute legend. I am, to this day, since launch, in awe of his work. It astonishes me to the point of tears streaming down my eyes, no joke. It isn't a risk, but guaranteed rain everytime I hear it when I'm feeling down or hopeless. It's like astronomy making me feel one with the universe. It's better than any substance I tried and it'll probably remain as the best game soundtrack I ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

But enough praising our hardworking astronaut. I wouldn't recommend this DLC even if I was paid to do it. I would've rather continue playing with mods than this.
And I'm not optimistic things will get that much better, considering Gearbox history.
I hope I'm proven wrong.
