Halls of Torment is a vampire survivors-like imbued in some early Diablo-esque textures. There are some interesting game design elements throughout that make it stand out from its godfather in "Vampire Survivors". Aiming your attacks is a welcome skill addition to the genre and, overall, the aesthetics won me over in the end. It's just nice. I love mostly everything about the game.

Early Access Review
Reminder for the future: check out gameplay before you buy a game!

ARPG + Vampire Survivor = Not good. Could be. But for now, there isn't any "hmm, I should pick this thing for this run". It's just a "this weapon deal more damage".

This feels like a cheap singleplayer MMO with minimal gameplay depth. There is even a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ binary crafting system, where you look at the 65 seconds pass by as you click "Craft all" and you have to wait. In the future, with more polishing, this could turn into a game that feels nice to play, but as of mid-july 2024 it still has some way to go. It has been out for 1½ year now and seems to get updates, so I won't call this a ♥♥♥♥ game yet. Paid 3,74 EUR for this, which isn't that much, but I'm broke AF = I had to refund.

As of right now, there's barely any feedback to your hits. The hack n' slash element is just barely there. The sound design is severely lacking and swinging your weapon around mindlessly is the way to go, which is boring. This is why a game like Vampire Survivor has done the right thing by making you auto-attack. Then there's a game like "20 Minutes Till Dawn" that has interesting gameplay based around being able to walk faster when you don't attack. Then Halls of Torment let's you auto-attack and auto-aim too, for that extra level of mastery. In this game, a third person view, it's kinda hard to know if you're being flanked, and plan where to go, as their rudimentary AI just beeline it straight to you, without real openings. You can dash out, but there isn't skill involved in pressing space. That isn't a critique per se, but in a Third Person View, it just doesn't feel right to have that simple AI being your foe. In a very limited space no less. Boring.

You don't need to allocate too much brain power in order for this game to work its magic, on top of this you only need to spend 10-20 minutes. It's fine.

Spider-Man is video game that has great combat, but is as choreful and deceptive as Ubisoft games when it comes to side-activities. Some activities are quite good, but mostly it comes down to spectacle over agency of controlling Spider-Man (QTE). Not that it's a bad thing, but the game does become a chore to go through. Some times forced stealth segments come and go, but in the end, for all the game's faults, it is saved by its

1) Fluid combat, definitely it's own thing. You can easily go into flow state.
2) Accessible movement that makes it easy to have that typical swagger of a cracker.
3) A well-paced story fused with great acting. This is by far my favorite Spider-Man iteration (apart from Toby)
4) A few good boss battle
5) Can't beat spectacle

As an FMV, maybe?

Alright, I actually didn't know this ♥♥♥♥ was a literal live-action show, just thought it was people making fun of the animated cinematics. - I've taken the liberty to watch the rest of this mess on YouTube, as the gameplay barely made an impact on me.

As an avid moviefilm fan, I'm repulsed by the fact that some people would call this a good show. The high concept barely works and every line of dialogue is ripped straight from TVTropes. On top of this, the world barely feels lived in and is so cliché that it gets hard to get into a comfortable rhythm. At best, it's a show that is unaware of its own goofiness and at worst it's a first draft written by a 13-year old. The show is not Quantum Break's strong suit. And neither is its gameplay. Furthermore, the show's action sequences are plagued by constant cutting that is uneasy to follow making it unreadable. Characters. They are there? Not much to write home about, they are forgettable.

The gameplay is choppy. There is almost no feedback to the guns and everybody feels like a bullet sponge, on top of just having 3 lines of code to guide the AI. The abilities, although cool, never seem to truly outshine the choppiness in framerate, movement and linearity.

Barely any feedback to what you do and it really isn't motivating in any way.

The only reason the game survives is likely due to its concept and its marriage with incremental games. It just doesn't do any more than that, you'll likely increase your WPM elsewhere.

I get that it's a "game", but misclicks are not fun and cripple what could be a fun game, there's a lot of improvement to be done, though, before it can be called a GREAT game.

Pretty chill can't remember much tho, as I was an immature little kid who resented anything that resembled something relaxing. Haven't changed tho, but chill it is. Listen to a podcast or Hotline Miami 2 OST Sped Up.

The Saints Row that RAGE 2 wanted to be, with good movement as well.

But like being the Superhero, having cool abilities to help traversing through the apocalypse, it sometimes crashes. Which I can't stop. Other than that we have the save files which will piss some people off. If you get it on sale, just read a guide on how to not ♥♥♥♥ up your save files. Otherwise it's recommended.

I remember writing my review of Skyrim, saying how it implemented so many features and still had no features that stood out with quality. The spell system in Skyrim is miles ahead of whatever Lichdom have going on. The universe feels off, the tone is off, it's just a clunky mess that doesn't have anything that redeems it.
