30+ year old gamer from NE Ohio. Avid fan of anime/manga, writing, reading, roleplaying, and art, among other things. I love RPGs and Visual Novel/Otomes the most, but I'm known to play other types of games on rare occasion. What can I say, I love me some digital waifus and husbandos.

To be honest I don't write reviews very often. Mostly out of laziness and often times becuase I'm just not good at focusing my thoughts to make a clear and coherent review of things, but regardless after playing (reading?) this amazing Visual Novel I honeslty felt I would be doing a disservice by not leaving feedback of my feelings for it.

I play a lot of VNs, they're easily my main bread and butter as far as my gaming experience goes, but I can honestly and truly say without a single ounce of reservation that I have never once experienced with another VN what I have experienced with House in Fata Morgana.

This game is likely not for everyone. For those who aren't into super wordy VNS this defintiely wouldn't be your thing as it's definteily more text driven then visual (although the Visuals that are supplied are wonderfuly gorgeous and add the perfect atmosphere and emotions to the scenes they're used for). Also, if you are not into tragic stories or very dark themes then it likely would not be for you either. It's defintiely not the game for the faint of heart or those who prefer lighter, bubblier stories. But if neither of those things are such that would turn you away then I recommend this title full heartedly.

This game turned me on my head emotionally so many times I lost count. I like to think I'm typically pretty good at picking up where a story is going, if only through the sheer amount of games I've played and manga/books/etc I've read making me feel I have a pretty good grasp on various differnet literary plot hooks often used in storytelling, but I found that every time I thought I knew exactly what was going in the story it'd turn it all around on me and new information would be revealed to completely throw me off track.

and. I. loved. every. second. of. it. Seriously, the moment I finally completed the game, gotten every achievement, was incredibly bittersweet. I felt a little lonely and empty for a brief moment. I have fallen in love with these characters and the world they are in and having to say goodbye to them is easily the hardest I've ever had to do with any VN I've played.

Anyway I know I'm kinda just gushing like a silly schoolgirl and I apologize if my review has come out a bit rambly, but I just really enjoyed this title so much and really hope anyone who hasn't will consider giving it a try and experiencing the tragic bliss that was The House in Fata Morgana.

With all that said, I don't want this review to just be glowing praise and nothing else, so I will admit the music, while absolutely delightful and beautifully done, could get a bit too repetitve at times. but that's really just a simple nitpick and far from something that caused me any serious lack of enjoyment with the game.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the game if you give it a try yourself!
