I love this game so much that I honestly can't get enough of it!! Falcom really made something special here and it's devastating how obscure it is.

Everyone's comparing this game with Dark Souls and despite how tiresome that trope might be at this point, they aren't wrong. Xanadu Next can pretty accurately be described as Falcom's own Dark Souls. However that isn't all there is to it. The combat is widely different from Dark Souls; it's simplistic (but still engaging and rewarding) and the story is also rather simple and short, but the lore, atmosphere and presentation of it all is what makes this game one of my absolute favorites. A dungeon crawler with Falcom's 3D graphics and isometric maps combined with a dark fantastical setting leads to an absolutely brilliant outcome. Xanadu Next is exactly the kind of game that Trails in the Sky the 3rd made me long for and here it is!! Go play it!!!!

The first blasphemous game is one of the best metroidvanias I've played and honestly this sequel is pretty much on par with that. This is a wonderful and extremely fun game and my only qualms with it is the difficulty of the 2nd to last boss, which is much harder than the actual final boss. This imbalance was rather odd, but I'm willing to look past it as everything else about the game is great.

If you enjoyed the first game then there's no reason to pass up this expanded experience!

What in yevon's name did they do to their poor faces...

The new character models completely ruin the tone of all the cutscenes -- the characters look lifeless and uncanny and no longer give the same emotional delivery that the og ones did. Even though this remaster has several graphical improvements that are pretty great (the environments for example), I believe that the face models and their animations completely ruin the experience as the emotional depth of the characters is completely lost. I highly recommend anyone interested in FFX to simply emulate the original ps2 games.

Signalis storytelling is superb. This game cleverly uses references and homages not for nostalgia points, but as a means to further enhance its own story. There's purpose behind every visual and every word on the screen, it's all carefully selected and vowen into a beautifully confusing narrative. I don't think I'm ever gonna get over this game. It has changed something fundamental in me.

Hypnospace Outlaw is a beautiful and outstanding love letter to the late 90s internet and its numerous personalized homepages. This game is like a glimpse into a world that has been lost -- not only is it sentimental and romantic for those who lived through the 90s, but it's a chance for those born after the 2000s to get to experience this time on the internet -- with a twist of course as the game is story driven and has a lot of lore and puzzles to figure out. This game is definitely worthwhile if you're interested in the old web and enjoy puzzle-solving.

As a side note, If this game made you mourn the old internet then I recommend checking out the geocities library on restorativland -- alternatively neocities, the modern equivalent of geocities.

By far the most innovative, unique and genuinely moving game I've played in years, maybe ever. Please play this game, it's an experience you absolutely should not miss!
