First off: Scythe the board game is good.

This is a very bad digital version of it.

A lot of this implementation isn't that bad: It looks nice, the animations are good, the board game is generally implemented well. Unfortunately, it's incredibly buggy. Trying to play Online? Good luck, the lobby is going to take a couple of minutes to load if it doesn't get stuck loading forever. Once you're in a game there's no ability to undo any action, the UI is awful such that it's very easy to accidentally choose the wrong action (or forget to do part of the action you chose, like move resources along with a unit). The game might also decide to just not let you do anything on your turn! Or it might disconnect you, forcing you to wait for the lobby to (maybe) load for two more minutes.

I'm honestly shocked it's still in this bad of a state 6 years after releasing. Don't pay for this until it's fixed.

This is a neat game! The style of the ship and the ship manual are super flavorful and I had fun messing around with it. The one problem is that it's a bit repetitive: most of the hazards you can see are handled in very similar ways and it feels like once you've played it for a few hours you could start to memorize most of the steps. Definitely once your Mission Control has gotten a feel for how to navigate the manual the missions become pretty easy.

That said, the aesthetic is great and if it interests you I definitely recommend it. Just know that you won't be getting too much playtime out of it unless you regularly invite new players to be in charge of Mission Control. I'd love to see the game expanded in some way with either dual hazards or more variation in how you solve problems, but it's a fun package as it is and I plan to keep showing it to friends.

Solid upgrade, though nothing too exciting. The new races are the high point, since they each require a slightly different strategy to fight. Everything else fits into the game well without being either overpowered or useless: just more options to use. The ability to invest in gradually improving your planets with terraforming and satellites is great.
