Hogwarts Legacy is a good game, although it may not be considered exceptional or groundbreaking. However, it delivers an intense beginning to the story, with enjoyable levels of fan-service that reference the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies. The game's overall atmosphere is positive, and it benefits from almost flawless technical implementation, a rare feat in today's gaming industry.

One of the game's strengths is its strong combat mechanics, which start simple but become more complex and engaging as the game progresses. The graphical design and art style are also impressive, especially at extreme settings at 4K, although a decent PC is required to run the game this way.

On the downside, the game suffers from repetitiveness and an overabundance of points of interest on the map, which can feel like mere placeholders after a while. The Merlin trials also feel lackluster, and the caves and camps become monotonous after the middle game. These factors contribute to the game feeling like a grind, which may not be appealing to non-diehard fans of the series. The sound and music also become repetitive, which can be a turn-off.

The most significant technical problem is the difficulty in focusing on enemies or objects when there are many on the screen. The user interface could also be more user-friendly, with features like a "Sell All" button or the ability to buy multiple potions at once.

Despite these flaws, there is potential for interesting story-based DLCs in other locations, which could make for an enjoyable gaming experience.
