A lot of inspiration from other farming sims! If you like that genre, you'll love this game. 💖
There's a lot of QoL improvements, like being able to save whenever you'd like as opposed to only at the end of a in-game day, being able to craft things from storage inventory instead of backpack inventory, and more!

Honestly... one of my favorite parts is the Friday nights at the Inn. All of the community members come in and do different activities with each other (D&D, book club, art classes, etc.), and it makes it feel so alive.

If you like task management apps, you'll like this game! There's a customizable pomodoro timer, a task list tracker, ambient sound effects (rain, thunder, wind, keyboard typing, etc.), and more. I like that it gives you the incentive of trying to lure out the spirits over time of you working! You unlock more spirits are you level up, which can be done through dailies.

Character customization is nice, but I think it would be neat if tattoos/piercings could be added! I wouldn't mind more of everything, tbh... hairstyles, clothing, etc. But I am a Sims player, so...

I'll lead by saying I'm not super surprised with the current mixed reviews... but don't let that scare you... please!

As a player that's been around since pre-alpha days, I also have some concerns with development & S6's general approach to some marketing decisions - I feel like they dropped the ball in a couple of ways, but I also think that Palia is a game that's trying to do a lot of things differently. There's likely going to be growing pains.

I *would* recommend at least trying the game, since it's free and you have very little to lose (outside of time). Things I personally gush about to my friends are:
- Atmosphere - beautiful, comforting, pleasing graphical style
- SFX / Music - IT'S. SO. GOOD.
- NPCs / Relationship Opportunities - you learn more about them as you develop friendships/romances (yes... romances 👀)
- Decorating (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the decorating, so satisfying)
- Story - it's been updated with each major patch, which has kept me around!
- Temples with PUZZLES (if you like puzzles)
- Interactive cooking mini-game
... and more.

Everyone's experience is going to differ a little bit, but I personally haven't run into many performance bugs... at least nothing that deters me enough to stop playing. I think the version out on the Switch hasn't been as friendly, so keep that in mind.

Some things I'm ready for them to change are the trading system. It's pretty frustrating to give materials to your friend (if playing alongside someone). I also think it would be super beneficial for them to implement some way for person to earn shop currency, or unlock an cosmetic via questing. I'm also very hopeful that they'll address some of the more pressing accessibility concerns that the community has expressed.

I wouldn't come into this game thinking it's going to feel like WoW / FFXIV - it's drastically different, and doesn't have the MMO feel they may have marketed it as early on in development. You CAN play with friends, you often DO interact with other people in-game for rarer resources... but as an introverted person, I can comfortably play with little to no interaction with anyone else.

With all of that in mind, I really do think it's worth trying out. Watch some game-play and decide for yourself. I've had the pleasure of experiencing the world of Palia for 2ish years, and I'm not tired of it yet. 💖

Ori games meet Studio Ghibli - it's a super endearing indie title.
Some people recommend waiting until it's on sale, seeing as it's such a short game... but I like supporting small indie companies that produce breathtaking games. The visuals are so, so beautiful. The soundtrack fits the over all aesthetic incredibly well.

Only con I'd give is... you can change your keybindings if you're planning on using mouse & keyboard. I switched to a controller a little ways in, and it was infinitely easier. c:

If you've ever played Left For Dead 2, this game as a similar atmosphere in terms of the enemies you're faced with. There's different kinds, they do different things, and you adapt accordingly to take them down! The difference is.. it takes FAR more strategy and team work. It offers a really nice challenge. You'll die, but you'll want to try again to figure out how to overcome the next part of the level. I really enjoy it! Can't wait to play more.
