I can't really understand how this works, but this game is like a flawless prison guard - I just can't get away...

But honestly, whether you'll like it or not depends a lot on what you'll take from it. It tends to be grindy after some time, but there so much to do that it gets diluted to manageable levels even for ppl who are not keen on grinding for things.

This game features:
  • Various play styles depending on weapon + armor pieces combination
  • Beautiful biomes
  • Huge monsters
  • Expeditions with monsters living their lives (awesomely scripted)
  • Hunting and farming
  • Collecting all that can be collected
  • Challenges (both hunting and non-hunting)
  • Events
  • and many more

There are many ways you can play this game, all of it you can do with friends or randoms:
  • You can enjoy expeditions, investigate every monster to max, enjoy them going about their lives and many many more.
  • On the other hand you can be the incarnation of the word hunter in the Monster Hunter: World and hunt down everything that moves. For that you can (or in Guding Lands you even must) track and hunt them in expedition, or take on some investigations or the story/optional/event quests.
  • After you get fed up with that, you can try to satiate that collector's heart of yours. For that, you can collect various weapons and armors, augments/decos for weapons and armors, uniques monsters you can have in your (ingame) room etc. There are many layered armors (only visual, no effect) and other visual only things. So you can fashion-souls the heck out of it!
  • You can also be that guy who just has to obliterate everything in as little time as possible and generally just git gud (and gudder).
  • And lastly, sunbros unite, help others achieve whichever mentioned above.

I personally combine all of the above. Currently in endgame, hunting for Safi to get the top weapons + still hunting for materials for other weapons/armors I visually like + optimizing my builds (so many...) + searching for these unique little monsters I still haven't found + occasionally just helping random ppl that shoot that SOS.

All in all, great game both past and present continuous.
