It's got guns. It's got dwarves. What's not to love?

As a long time fan of the series, I have to say that the Resident Evil 2 remake is remarkable. Not only does it do the original justice, it goes above and beyond. Bar some straight up teleporting zombies that manage to grab you when they shouldn't have been able to, I'd say they did a damned fine job with this game. Survival horror at its finest.

It's a short game. Not going to lie. I spent about three hours on it, and that was with me running around exploring everything and clicking on everything clickable (often even things that weren't clickable). It wasn't what I imagined when I first started. I had decided not to look too much into to it spoil it too much, but I had some vague ideas. It proving me wrong isn't necessarily a bad thing though. It was just different.

For a small indie studio from Norway, I'd say this is worth your time. And three hours? That's not even asking for a lot of your time. I found it very enjoyable.

Edit: Nominated for Outstanding Visual Arts 2019.

Did Space Age, the expansion, just reignite a fire that was already burning hot? Yes! The addiction never ends! The factory must grow!

My all time favourite game, no doubt.

A fun litle gem.

While this game is no AAA-title, it holds up when it comes to gameplay. It's a classic hack'n'slash. You've got your fast pace (which is really fast) along with some combos, and some special moves.

The story is so-so. I mean, it's something to do while waiting for Season 5 of RWBY! It's not bad? It's just painfully average. Short. And to the point.

Game play is fun though. That's important.

I was surprised by Resident Evil 7. Not just because of the whole "going back to its horror roots" (and they didn't just go back to its horror roots - they outdid it by far!), but also because they managed to balance it so well alongside small tidbits of action, as well as keeping the story within the established universe.

Resident Evil has a very rich lore universe. There's so many characters in the series (both playable, NPCs and those you just read about in files and what not) that it's impossible to keep track of them all. That's not a bad thing in itself. I mean, you can have a field day visiting RE-oriented wikipedias and fan sites to read up on whatever tidbits of lore you didn't even know existed (mainly due to it not being a part of the main series). And while I agree that Resident Evil needed to reinvent itself, I did not want to see the established universe disappear either. And boy, was I in for a treat!

The game does its horror very well. Right from the get go you are introduced to a very dangerous world. One you have to thread alone as you uncover the truth of everything, and fight to survive and ever darker plot. It's got atmosphere. It's got creep factor. It's got terrifying enemies. And it still manages to balance that horror with some action. At first I thought to myself "This reminds me an awful lot of Outlast". Don't get me wrong, Outlast is a fine horror game. But we didn't need Resident Evil to go down that road. We already have Outlast for that. But that soon changed up. Resident Evil is experimenting with a variety of different themes, and they're nailing it. The whole game is really well done, and they amount of details they've put in is astonoshing. This is a must play in my book. Top notch here from the developers.

Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the franchise now. This is an excellent game.
