How do I begin to categorize this game? Dating sim? Visual novel? Casualty minimization simulator? All of the above?
In all seriousness, I picked this game up, expecting it to be your typical dating sim, but everything is dragons, a la Hatoful Boyfriend. And well... I guess I got what I payed for...
And so. much. more.
The overarching story is deep, and gives the player investment in trying to get a positive ending. Every individual character's stories are woven together, as if the world is a living breathing entity. All of the dragons behave realistically, having struggles, goals, and dreams that you need to help them achieve.
I won't devolve into spoiler talk, because the story needs to be experienced untainted, but I will say this much. I bought this game figuring that I would have a few hours of goofy dragon romance for the few bucks I spent, but I ended up going and achieveing all 63 achievements, and obtaining an obnoxiously obscure hidden true ending, not for the gamer cred, but because I cared about the characters, and wanted the best for (most of) them.
10/10 would experience again.
