the last three are kicking my ass. need to git gud.
pre-patch the jumping sections in the tribune were garbage, and the volume holds were impossible to telegraph.
the bouldering levels are really fun, although that seems to be a point of contention for a lot of reviewers.
maybe add some scaffolding on the castle to place ropes for the difficult jumps?
I think the alternative routes provided after the patch are more than enough however, as I was able to go back and complete this level.
the sun idol is a bit jank on Great Gales levels.
great bok is pretty low performance.
overall 9/10 after patch. i will never look at an alpine ibex the same way again

This game is No More Room in Hell by name only.
It is in no way a sequel to the original as it does not build on existing mechanics in a manner that would complement the gameplay. Not only have most mechanics been simplified, but they have been made outright easier. I cannot see myself playing this game as a long-time fan of the original, which I still play very often to this day.
No infection, no suicide, no kids, no survival, no objective, no roaming hordes. Stack-able medical supplies? Poorly telegraphed delayed melee attacks, when you hold down for a heavy attack you release it immediately, persistent HUD, zombies take too many swings to bring down in relation to how much stamina you have, the rougelike elements are ass and uneeded fluff, NO MOD SUPPORT will kill this game. Revives/Self Revives & they call it 'hardcore', it is HARDLY that.
I could not recommend this game in it's current state, or ever, as most of the problems here are not only bugs, but are problems rooted in the development of this game and the publisher themselves. It hasn't gone "woke" or some other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ write off, it just is not faithful to the IP.
The performance the new engine eats up is not worth the off-putting/overly shiny visuals that misrepresent the theme of the series. The bugs are insane, I'm not sure this build is any different from the playtest build as every bug I saw in those videos were present in my gameplay, as well as a few more. Not able to equip bandages to heal, teleporting zombies, zombies that teleport upright after taking a headshot and falling over, being unable to open crates, various inventory bugs, aiming down sights barely works sometimes and can obscure your whole vision, constant voice chat cutting out & just not working, some of the objectives were unable to be interacted with. I could go on for ages.

TL:DR. Do NOT buy this game in its current state. Give it another year in the oven and even then, it is NOT a No More Room in Hell sequel, it is Torn Banners zombie game that they hijacked the IP for to gain sales.

Game infrequently crashes upon opening the map. A quintessential mechanic used every round. It's like playing Russian roulette except instead of dying I'm forced to sit in front of the epilepsy warning for 8+ minutes before being able to join back. Also include an option to disable startup movies after fixing this unacceptable bug.

I get the game is in Early Access, but after already waiting for a year after the May 2022 Release date, most people expected a little more substance. The game was in no way like the Forest. Not once did my friend and I ever sleep or hunt or cook anything the entire game. We ran around hyped up on energy bars and sodas as we decimated the local population and looted all the caves. We visited every bunker and cave and beat the game in about 6 and a half hours. Health is pointless as meds are extremely common now, and dying just puts you right next to your stuff. The combat was kinda awful too, and grabbing stuff from the backpack instead of hotkeys seemed fun, but in practice was slow and caused a lot of deaths. (Played on custom settings set to the max for the difficulty.) It got to the point at the last 2 hours we were so bored that we were begging for the next bunker to be the ending bunker...
Endnight, we all loved the forest, and we understand that this will need it's time, too. You should've just pushed it back again, as honestly I'm more disappointed now than I think I would've been for another delay. The hype is broken.
I will say, besides performance issues (The system requirements are a blatant lie.), there were minimal bugs, only physics bugs and a few animation errors when picking up new items. Good job on the polish, guys.
By the way, putting it on pre-order would've helped you guys NOT crash the steam store today.
I know you guys will fix things up and add more content, and as that happens I will update my review.

very good game. controls are awkward but if you have a gamepad youll get used to them by the 2nd level. alot of people say its like that one I am bread rage game but honestly its not. the styling is done really well and fits the game perfectly, along with the killer soundtrack. i finished the game solo and it was a blast.
