I've played almost 4 hours so far and i'm about to start the second dungeon. it's super intuitive if you're a 2-d zelda head , the gameplay is just checking all my boxes. yet it's never feels shameless or uninspired. it's a tad dialogue heavy but it's actually a pretty cool setting and a lot of the jokes and quips are actually pretty good. i love Capy!

i notice some minor stuff like getting stuck on some doors, and the inventory is a little confusing (some materials are upgrades, most of them seem like vendor junk, but items you'll need for upgrades or quests aren't marked in anyway that i can tell). i wish i had more storage space in my chest. although there is a bag vendor, so i'm guessing there's upgrades. bosses feel a tad spongey but it's not that bad (maybe i just need some more upgrades?). swapping characters can feel a bit clunky but hopefully i'll come to grips with that over more playtime. i bet going 2 player with a friend controlling Capi would be a blast.

i notice i was constantly thinking "well I hope this come's next..." like i hope fast travel unlocks soon. or i hope i get the bomb items soon. it was like the game read my mind (or it's just pretty well designed in that sense, it's possibly just a bit linear so far, but again, it doesn't feel like a bad thing neccasarily) - i am wondering if it will open up a bit more.

all in all, i have faith in the devs to keep plugging away, and want to keep playing more asap. i bounce off games pretty quickly anymore, but it's also steamdeck compatible which is huge for me. it's rare for me to get hooked in the first hour but once you start exploring, it really starts to hit the gas. very impressed for what looks like a fist time effort from a small team. the devs are pretty active and seem like nice folks.

believe the hype owlboy will make you want to kiss a bird.
