A fine sequel. Plays a lot better than the first game, a step up in every way. Smoothes out a lot of the rough edges of its predecessor.

Revival of a cult classic in a true labor of love fashion. Everything has been polished up to the extreme without losing its sense of identity, retaining that old style.

Very atmospheric experience with fluid gameplay. The progression is really enjoyable. The only bad thing I have to say about this is that there still isn't a skip cutscene button, even though this is a remaster, which is supposed to fix such issues. Also the 3rd and best piece of armor you can get looks exactly the same as the first one, which is a bummer, so I installed a mod called Black-Blood Great Armor that makes it look much better (in my opinion).
Apart from that, this really was a flawless experience.

Very intruiging game in terms of landscape and in overall psychology terms as well when it comes to storytelling. Really like the main character's design as well as the design of the world around you. The atmosphere is, even if a lot bizzare, pretty enjoyable. It also has the best hair graphics I've seen in a game, so much so from a game from 2011.
Here's a bonus as well, you can download the abandonware for American McGee's Alice (prequel to this game) which comes bundled with this on the EA store, but not on Steam for some reason. All you have to do is follow this easy to follow guide explaining the process, have fun.

A simple, yet effective game

Having 130%ed the game, I'd say it's safe to say this is a masterpiece and a personal favorite. It's not that often you see this good of a progression system and such good movement, all from a platformer that also has some of the best OSTs I've heard in a game.
However, the game suffered from some stutters, sometimes leaving me with up to "20fps" according to the counter, which would go back to normal, only for them to drop again. It's surely a "my PC problem", but it's still worth pointing out, since it ruined a big part of the experience for me. Also the camera could be unfair on some challenges, which I'm not a fan of, giving you unfair deaths (it's very rare though).
Overall, very good game, definetely recommended.

Definetely an original game with its ups and downs. Having played through the game as Tukaram (Two-Handed weapon user) I can definetely say that the game was a breath of fresh air for me. Even though this is supposed to be a souls-like and the grandfather of Souls games, I didn't really feel the similarities myself. That said, that's not a bad thing necessarily.
What I didn't like about it was the sometimes junky hitboxes, inconsistent sound-mixing and the use of a saving system that counts the number of your saves, rating it accordingly, which gives you second thoughts about saving or makes you ignore that system entirely and save whenever, which is what I did.
Game's definetely old, but it can still hold up its ground, if you're willing to go through its cons in order to enjoy its pros. The price is also quite affordable.
