As someone who mostly played multiplayer games their whole life, I think this game is peak. If you're someone who hasn't played many singleplayer games before and wants to experience peak storytelling in a different format apart from TV and books, you NEED to give this a shot. This game has so much to provide in terms of story and characterisation that you can't get anywhere else. The characters in this game are amazing, and I've only really played the main story as of now, but you can do so much more with the vast amount of content in this game such as side quests which only enhance the experience.

I have played this game since 2017, and much like everyone else, I truly believe that this was worse than the original. The lack of a second tank allows for much more snipers and a solo-carry playstyle, which is something that can become unbelievably frustrating in higher ranks on certain maps. Because of the lack of a second tank, healing has become unbelievably broken in this game, so with the encouragement of 1v1 focused gameplay, good luck actually getting into a 1v1, as supports now have the crazy healing abilities as well as insane invulnerability/get-out-of-jail-free cards. The lack of a tank is something that I find personally frustrating as I loved the playstyle of an off-tank (Roadhog, Wrecking Ball), something that can no longer exist. The solo tank gameplay also gets rid of the most fun mechanic in OW1, which was tank synergies. Rein Zarya is now something that can never exist, and it pains me as it was some of the most fun I ever had in the original. My friends who are both tank players can now also never play together again in the same role, which is why they have quit playing their role. OW2 also promised a reduction in CC, which they did, FOR ONE SEASON. Following season 1, more and more CC was released from their new "soft CC" balance philosophy. This is incredibly frustrating for any player and it baffles me that they added more back when S1 was close to peak Overwatch because of the freedom and skill expression it allowed players to show off without garbage "no u" abilities. To beat a dead horse I will mention the game's awful monetisation. The battle pass does not even give you credits to purchase another one next season, and has the most bloat I've ever seen in a battlepass. The skins really haven't been that good (I refuse to believe that a mythic skin takes a year to produce, theres no way Cyber Demon Genji took that long). Having to unlock heroes goes directly against their whole inclusive philosophy of Overwatch, as if there is a hero you might like as a new player, you won't be able to get it until you hand over money equalling the price of the original IP.

I mostly hate this game because it killed the Reddit Lucio playstyle which was very viable in OW1, and is now just impossible to pull off from even more CC and the crazy amount of healing that supports provide. I would be willing to come back if something like Overwatch Classic was a thing, and I would happily pay money for that.
