Until online gaming came to my small rural village the people there raised cows and gourds. They were always spending their days trying unsuccessfully to make something salable from various combinations of cows and gourds, then unexpectedly our world was forever changed by Verizon who arrived in town with poles and wires that they said carried information, a service which they assured us had nothing whatsoever to do with electricity. This magical information river was attached to all of our houses and it was in its streams that we all found the meaning in our lives that various mixtures of gourd and cows simply could not give us.
