Hit a jeep with an RPG. Explodes. Jeep carries on undamaged. Driver and passenger unharmed.

10/10 mil-sim

EDIT:

I encountered a new player who joined me in a building during a siege on a base. I stopped to talk them through the basics. An enemy team player hears us talking, came up to us, and we both talked him through how to play. Honestly, what game can you find that in?

Toxic community members? Well, maybe some, but they quickly get kicked. If you like mil-sim, and you have patience, it doesn't really get any better than this. Until Arma 4 is released in 2027 anyway...

One criticism I do have though is the server fps and graphics optimisation. It's the server fps that is the most annoying thing about this game, because examples like the above one with the jeep can happen, and do, fairly often. It can be annoying, but also hilarious. But seriously Bohemia, that really needs some work.

If you like clicking a mouse repeatedly doing the same quests you've done a million times already in countless other games, you'll LOVE this!

This is a game called Cryofall, with better graphics and dressed up as "vampires". To keep you logging in and playing for hours every day, V Rising employs the "incentive" of automatically making your main structures degrade over time unless you log in, grind the crap out things to generate stacks and stacks of semi-rare loots so you can stock building inventories that tick down on a timer. This is a mechanic designed to trap people, and after a few days the fun will fade.

Other games are designed to REWARD people for logging in every day with login streak totals, rather than by PUNISHING you if you don't. It also doesn't take into account the real world. Going away for a week? Well your game just got screwed and you lost everything.

Graphically it looks very Lost Ark/Diablo, which is great, but the beauty of the presentation sadly doesn't compensate for the main problem, in that it's a massive time suck of grinding resources to get *slightly* better gear to grind *more resources*, rinse-repeat. Oh and you can't go outside for 1/3 of the game "day", making the process EVEN SLOWER.

Such a shame. Such a good premise, but these mechanics have appeared before, all in games that are designed to trap you. So why would anyone implement that?

The next step will be micro-transaction items to help remove the artificially unnecessary grind. Then you'll effectively be paying for a subscription as well as a full price game. Activision Blizzard would be proud of this level of predatory.

This is a *great* game.

Is it worth its full price? Hmmmm, no.

If it's half price, buy it without regrets. Honestly the soundtrack is worth this game at half price. It's worth it just to grab a motorbike and fly around the city without fear of becoming a ticked box on an organ donation form, taking in the sights of this fantastically mapped out and put together city.

Does it still have immersion and game breaking bugs, 1+ years after release? Yes. Yes it does.

Items spawning just underneath terrain textures so you *can't quite* get them? ✓
Terrain textures visually fighting over which gets to grace your screen with their presence? ✓
People and vehicles suddenly cycling through a kaleidoscope of colours for no reason? ✓
Game suddenly freezes and crashes with zero warning? ✓

Honestly, a game as ambitious as this, which is totally open world and filled with all kinds of little side-show curiosities, deserves a pat on the back. There are entire games that are sold *purely* around the driving mechanics that this game has. The firefights are more interesting, the action elements are better and the "open world" is a vastly more interesting place to explore than either GTA V or Fallout 4.

I don't regret buying this game for one second.
