I refunded after playing it for just shy of 2 hours, why? well it just feels like a lot of the player agency is gone from DoTE and it feels like a much more streamlined modernised version of a classic, which don't always make it a better game. the guns ain't impactful and just seem like they are there to say "we have new guns too!" also the spawn mechanic's for the hostiles are not great and kind of unpredictable and the door mechanic ... seems you 'have to' open all the doors which makes the door mechanic a bit useless. overall not fantastic and i will wait till it has had a bunch of updates and has been out a while before i try it again....

I was really looking forward to this game, being a huge monster train fan and having watched retromation playing the early access of it, but i got into the game "lobby" and saw battle pass, battle pass, battle pass, i could have forgiven this but then i got into the game itself and on my first run got swarmed by small enemies that did unavoidable damage, changed class got swarmed by enemies doing unavoidable damage, changed class..... right now i don't recommend, it could get good in the future for sure but they would need to change up some mechanics and literally get rid of the BP ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ don't need it in games that cost money. refunded for now

Absolutely stunning game, looks good plays good just what everyone has always wanted for a potterverse game! only encountered 2 bugs in 52 hours and it got patched yesterday. Only thing that could make this game better would be a multiplayer mode (think GTAO) plays fine on my midrange PC so don't need a beast to run it and it also looks good on my brothers 980 with even lesser spec than i have.

If you don't like doing small side content and exploration quests then this game will loose some value, though i think rushing the main story would still make this game worth but the shear amount of content is just almost unbelievable. Not used to this kind of thing from a AAA developer.

The spell system is a little clunky though they did the best they could for console controls, though they could have had a second shifter for the left trigger to give you access to 8 spells at the same time, instead of having to scroll through 4 pages of 4.

The combat is engaging and lively with real timing needed for parrys and dodges on harder difficulties, and some pre-thought in selecting spells for specific encounters e.g. inferi require fire to even damage them and trolls are immune to normal control spells.

the character's are well made and have a good variety but most of them will give you a gather this or go here quest, the characters with a bit more chops are all well voiced and interesting and you see them randomly walking hogwarts corridors or walking through hogsmeade and they talk about the latest escapades you have had with them.

The world has been brought to life in a way that only a potterverse game can be alive with paintings telling you to be quiet and suits of armor having fights, peeves the poltergeist sliding down banisters and ghosts popping through walls or doors.

one small gripe i have is with the broom handling, until you get the third upgrade from the shop in hogsmeade it feels a bit sluggish and the lack of quidditch while i understand why its not in the game, it feels like an opportunity wasted and really could have made some amazing side quests, learning with the team or even just watching a game, betting on a game or doing some small quests to sabotage the opponents or help your team but we can't have everything, and the lack of our favourite wizard sport don't hurt the game in any noticeable way.

all in all i can wholeheartedly recommend this title and my has it been worth the wait! 10/10

Similar to her story, made by 1 chap, well acted and pretty well put together, got stuck hard so needed a guide to finish it, but worth a go if you like a detective game with twists

Only two hours in i had one little sound crash (its why i stopped playing to come here and see if there was a fix) the character creation is pretty adorable, the customisation options are nice being able to create a completely unique furry antagonist. the art styling is fresh and the colour choices are totally well thought out.

The world feels large right now (i'm sure with a mount it will feel a lot smaller, but that is supposition.) and the environments are lovely to behold, love the little touches of trash piles and old world crap dotted around the fresh verdant green foresty place you start in. overall i would say the visuals are different enough to be polarising but personally i love them.

So far i have found the combat a little wonky (the "lock on" mechanic is a bit floaty and feels like a lot of guesswork) and the melee is low impact but quite satisfying. i styled my furry friend as a psi/samurai and started off with an intellect build which has made the melee combat harder i'm pretty sure as i only have some electric knuckle dusters right now so maybe that's why it feels low impact.

Playing with a xbone pad feels right and i've had no trouble with anything control related, everything has so far been smooth and buttery (apart from my sound crash, i think it had something to do with a USB device being pulled which locked it up)

The music is very eastern inspired and fairly repetitive but it does a good job of setting the mood. the sound effects are well done and i have no complaints there i also love the little comic book words that pop up from time to time when you shoot someone or throw a giant electric ball at something :)
the narrator is truly next level. remember that time when you first played Bastion? yeah its like that. he also gives all of the voice delivery for each character in the game which is an odd design choice but it works well enough, lucky the guy has a great speaking voice, though i can see why this would annoy some people for sure. for me it gives continuity and binds everything together in a way multiple actors couldn't do.

Overall i would heartily recommend this game if you like open world action games. yes the price is pretty steep for a point of entry but i've not played anything as exciting as this in a long time and look forward to learning the excellent looking crafting system and finding out a bit more about the world and its denizens

8/10
