This is the best driving experience in a Forza Motorsport game. That aspect of it is great fun, but the rest of the package is disappointing. For the long wait that promised a true generational leap, this feels decidedly iterative and barren.

Visuals are underwhelming, uneven, and inaccurate. The game opts for a hazy, almost washed out, visual style, which does not look particularly attractive. Forza Horizon 5, despite being an open world game, appears to me to provide better image quality and more world detail than this game. AI is still awful with all the faults of past games. AI driven cars appear to have no awareness of you or each other. The career mode is bare bones. Just a grid of events to take part in. Navigating through the game requires excessive menus and mini cutscenes to get through too. In some of these menus, your car is shown awkwardly with a gray void as the backdrop. There’s no soul, passion, or variety. This zaps all the energy from the game for me.

I understand building a new game engine requires a lot of time and effort, but what matters is the end result and this doesn’t deliver. The comparison to GT7 can't be ignored either, which in my opinion is the better game in every way. It has passion and manages to look better despite being stuck on a console.
