Wait for a sale.

It's good. I enjoyed it. But it's not a true remake with it missing a heck of a lot of content. It's very short; seriously short, first run doing everything was 4 hours, second run took me 2, with the third taking only 1:44.

Wait for a sale before picking it up. You're being ripped off at it's current price tag.

Probably the best remake I've ever played. My only con is the price.

At £44.99 for a 4-8 hour run (doable in under 2 hours once you've completed it twice), it's very over-priced. At 19.7 hours play time, I've completed all 4 play throughs with one S rank and one on hardcore, completed hunk's mode and 3 of the tofu missions. I probably have another 4 hours playability left in the game so I call it a total of 24 to max acheive and do everything the game offers. If you can resist the hype, I'd wait until you can pick this up cheaper (£20-30 range).

Good game to play for a weekend with no commitments.

I hope RE3 remake is on its way...

Don't buy this if you want a stable game with decent storytelling. The plot makes no sense and the story missions were buggy as hell.

I recommend this only because I was able to play from the beginning through to the end with my brother which made this game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious. You should only buy it if you have a buddy to play with you as the unrelenting buggy, mediocre gameplay is typical of a Ubisoft product but with company, it's pretty funny and enjoyable.

If you do play multiplayer, expect constant disconnects, rotary malfunctions (with hilarious outcomes), random zip-line related deaths and mic screaming when your brother decides to kill the npc with info because he can't see the ! on his screen.

PS: Progress doesn't save for the connectee, so yeah...that's annoying.

Overall:
I was 50/50 on recommending this game and have decided in favour of rather than against. Not worth full price tag in current state unless you have serious patience and have nothing else to play!

Review:
The game is a hot mess of game breaking bugs, graphical glitches that break the stealth mechanic, save bugs, script bugs, bugs, bugs more bugs; Guards randomly have XRay vision to see you knock out that sleeping trader inside his house from a mile away (Rattay, upstair, far right corner bed. Happens 100% of the time), Save bugs were you reload and sudden have -100 rep with citizens, loading bug loop where guard asks you to stop while still loading into a save and he's beating the crap out of you before the game finishes loading... I can go on and on and on with this. I have never seen a released product with soo many bugs!

Enough negativity, I'm recommending the game, SO, what does it do well?

Combat is vicious and meaty, Stealth (when it works) is harder than most games and I can't knife sleeping beauty and expect the bed next to them not to go "WTF?", Story (up to where I currently am anyhow, watch this space), Environment (forgiving the graphics bugs...), Loot and a selection of choice and path that seem to matter.

Overall, the game thus far has provided me a sandbox of fun moments, rage inducing moments caused by my own stupidity (60% bug related) and humous interactions with NPCs (Strip dice?). The difficulty in aiming, saving and combat has kept me on my toes the entire time and even with how strong hal is compared to starting, he still feels like a newb. This has somehow translated into me continually wanting to master the mechanics to pull of quick hit and run stealth kills on bandit camps before envitably being forced into close quarters.

What the hell happened to this... I got this on steam due to the sale and all DLCs but 2.0..? It's like all the fun has been sapped away for pure statergy. I was enjoying it right up to the moment when I thought the game was bugged.

I was trying to declare war on an AI and couldn't. All the war options were greyed out and after googling it, I find out I can only wage war if my borders touch...wft? That just bloody strange! A massive fleet sat in empty space is not allow to raid another empire because there's no friction between the nations? Maybe this would make sense IF I wasn't playing an Emperor hell bent on domination!

Whatever. 2.0, avoid.

So I am 32 hours in:

Game is repeative in a good old style way. Farm, level, loot, expand and learn. This is the formula the game is going for. It does it very well but scaling is an issue. At the start of the game, every fight was a brutal one for me. I had to carefully pick my targets and watch the enemies closely to see what they would do; at later levels, this is no longer the case. With Epic-legendary gear and a tank with 500-600 hp and all the "Hey, look at me" gear, it's pretty much just click click boom... oh *heal* and done. There are some annoyingly evasion enemies and some dungeons have nice environmental debuffs to bring some challenge but all in all, late game is to easy. Loot is randomly generated and it takes a long time to get the gear your looking for, unless you spam the shops.

I highly recommend this game if you enjoy building extremely powerful elite characters from punny sacks of blood.

Some things I dislike:
4 party member cap on 6 player battles. Assuming this is to make it more difficult and to allow quest npcs to join you.
Too few classes
Too few skills
Too easy late game
Audio... at around 3 hours in, I started playing the game on mute...

Some things I feel were missed:
Animations on battlers would add to immersion (just make the sprites grow and shrink (breath) for instance)
Traps, enviromental hazards, secrets etc for dungeons
More puzzles and lore based secrets
Keep upgrade are just a tack-on. This feature needs serious expansion.

Early Access Review
Terrible UI, bad options menu, poor controls (sometimes feels completely unresponsive), life story in the tutorial, gameplay... outstanding? No it's not a typo, the game is very good if you can get past the extremely poorly designed UI and controls. It's rare that I would give a game with so many flaws a positive review but you will just have to play it to see why. High hopes for this.

Very buggy; Very good. Doubt very much that the bugs won't be squashed soon.

Loving the enhancements on the first. Finding it seriously hard to believe people are giving it negative feedback... Makes me lose faith in gamers as a whole.

Early Access Review
It's fun and addictive. However, as of writting this it is full of bugs. More than most early access titles I've played. Highly recommend waiting on full release to see how this progresses.

Bugs ive encounter in my current playtime (2.4 hours) include:

"Fatal Error" - Game just closes
Graphical glitches
Flickering of the screen
Stuck on join dungeon, had to force close the game
Zone movement lag with no loading screen (game looks to have crashed but comes back)
Group combat is really difficult due to FPS drops when players are "throwing"/casting skills
Tearing

Few things that have annoyed me so far,
UI scale - its huge and ugly
No real direction - early access so expect? At the moment, just dungeon run and clear as fast as possible seems to be everyones play style

Has potential so I'll give it a thumbs up but buggy so be forewarned!
