(I just noticed that it says I barely played the game. I assume it is because I played exclusively on my Steam deck while offline, as my save file time is about 50 hours.)

There are a lot of good things about this game. Fun dungeon experience, a few part time job minigames, being able to build new structures in the town, and owning your own home. That being said, probably the biggest draw would be the impressive variety of characters and how each storyline can go.

You get a lot of choices during the game. Many will just affect affection with a character, some will be major decisions that will determine specific outcomes for characters. A lot of these will be obvious, like building the Bard's College for a certain character, or will be marked to be made obvious, like when you start romances.

Speaking of romances, there's a lot of available characters in the game, but that's not exactly new. What sets it apart, in my opinion, is that there are a number of characters who are fine if you date other people and will also be open to polyamorous relationships. Also, while the game doesn't get graphic with its sexuality (as far as I know), it talks about things a lot more freely and a lot of characters are a lot more open and flirty with their affections.

I think the main downside to the game would be that, if you are really set on a specific outcome, like certain romances, using the guide that the developer created is almost required.

Lastly, one pretty cool and unexpected point is that the developer seems to be pretty active in answering questions and helping people out in the forum. I know he promptly answered my questions when I got worried about screwing something up, which I am very grateful for.

This is a great game. The comic book style works well with the overall theme of the game, and it's overall a lot of fun to play. My only complaint is that it's a bit short, unless you go completionist. I'm really hoping to see more stories come out soon, hopefully at some point one truly grandiose and global.

Whether or not to recommend this game is a very difficult decision to make for me.

I truly enjoyed this game. I enjoy the shipbuilding and playing around with all the components and designs and how it allowed me to try different builds. I liked how some hulls had special benefits to them, like one hull gave a bonus to armor placed in it and another one that gave a large damage boost to beam weapons, and if you didn't want those, probably due to the increase in production cost, you could stick with the bonus-less hulls. I also loved a lot of the writing, as this game is not a "serious" game. A lot of the interactions with other races and events are funny, and there are a lot of references to other media, like Stargate, Masters of Orion, Futurama, and even Ghostbusters.

However, the game is significantly unpolished and very buggy. For example, when I auto finished a space battle, if my fleet was large enough, I couldn't scroll all the way down to see if all the ships survived. At first, when I tried to see what a research topic was, the tooltip was hidden behind the research screen so I couldn't read most of it. When going to the next turn, if you were colonizing a planet and invading another, the screens would appear at the same time. All minor things, just little nuisances.

There are also a lot of bugs, some bigger problems than others. Sometimes, even when I have surplus food and freighters to move the food to starving planets, those planets still starve. I can have deep space stations next to a sector and the sector can have full influence, but I still don't gain control over it. Various bugs that I've seen on the forums that still haven't been fixed. Thankfully, most of these bugs, while they do affect certain aspects of gameplay, they are pretty much never, in my experience, game breaking, and usually pretty easy to deal with or doesn't hurt too much.

Like I said, even with those issues, I still enjoyed the game. If you have a low tolerance for bugs and general lack of polish, then I would say you should pass on this game. I would probably suggest that you try other 4X space games like Stellaris before trying this, but if you've tried most of those games or this one goes on a really good sale, I would probably say you can give it a try.
