A long while ago, I was given this game as a present. To me, it looked so sweet and particularly interesting because I have a very big soft spot for animals. While the game does live up to these two things, being sweet and a treat for anyone who appreciates animals, Never Alone is also something much more than that.

This game is a simple 2-D platformer with a storyline that was based on very old folklore. The developers of this game really took the time to immerse themselves into the words of the people who made this folklore and created something brilliant with it. Throughout the game you are given snippets of videos showing them interviewing people about their folklore and what exactly it all means. In the end you discover that the central idea of these stories was to unite people in the belief that you must respect all forms of life no matter how big or small.

There are a few really nice challenging parts of this game that I think also make the game very worthwhile. The plotline takes and unexpected shift and gives you a whole new sense of gameplay. If you buy the DLC, you will find that it is also a great addition to the game.

Overall, I think that this game is a lovely pick for anyone who is looking for something that isn't too challenging but has an interesting and thought-provoking ending. I recommend watching all of the videos as well because they help you to understand the developer's visions through the eyes of the people who inspired them. It also has a very soothing soundtrack.

I am happy to say that I got to experience this game and even more thankful that it was given to me as a present. It truly is a wonderful game.

Firstly, I should say that I haven't played To the Moon. This review was written on an individual basis rather than a comparitive one.

A Bird Story is a heartwarming and simple interactive short. It has the kind of story that aims to touch the players emotions without being too jaded like a visual novel. The music and art style is soothing while at the same time remaining true to the theme of simplicity. It is more than just an interactive movie, it's the story of an unlikely friendship between a boy and a bird that represents the beauty in small things we sometimes overlook. It would make a great lighthearted addition to any game library.
