I have yet to figure out why this game has been praised as "the good one". It seems maybe after years of bad to mediocre Sonic games our expectations have been dimmed significantly, but I can't find myself recommending this game the same way everyone else does.

The gameplay does not feel fluid in both the modern and classic modes. When the camera shifts around in modern mode Sonic will often lose his momentum or even stop completely, if you hit a wall jump pad in slightly the wrong spot it will shoot you back a significant distance instead of propelling you through the level in a smooth way. Classic Sonic feels floaty at best. Something as simple as adjusting your jump height feels off with the weird momentum.

I've been a fan of Sonic for 20 years so I hope someone can help me find some hope in this franchise but until then I'm giving up on this game.
