"MORE == BETTER"

That seems to be the main philosophy or mindset adopted by the developers for this game, and it is also the main problem with it as well.
Everything is over-bloated and huge with no real substance, quality or optimization to back it up, where the previous game was relatively restrained and full of quality, this one feels like it's trying to overcompensate it's importance.
Here's a handful of comparisons/complaints:
• Levels? Two or three times bigger with nothing to warrant it, most of the levels are empty or soulless with exploration being discouraged.
• Characters? Annoying more than interesting, every character spouts out annoying and pointless banter more times than you can count.
• Hub? Giant pointless castle, five times bigger than the inn but five times more pointless, there's no reason for this much empty space.
• Arsenal? Several hundred meaningless weapons, they rarely differ from each other and only serve to bloat the artificial power number.
• Character progression? 3 Variants of each hero and HappyMeal prizes, they work wonders on occasion but you'll barely notice or remember them most of the time.
• Enemies? 2-3 factions that are barely different, only sometimes a real threat, specials are annoying more than threatening.

Everything feels more bloated than it realistically should, from the DLC prices to game size, it's not the worst sequel example out there but it's more so another Payday 2 situation where it tried to rival the first game's success by stepping on a higher pedestal but due to either developer laziness or incompetence it tripped, fell down multiple steps and tried to walk it off like nothing happened.

A very unique and artistic combination of platformer and shooter.

The main bulk of the game is nothing short of the excellent with every level being like an action movie ride from start to finish, you shoot and blow your way through armies of goons like a ballet of blood and murder.
However the second part of the game, for whatever reason, everything decides to slow down and take a break: Enemies that previous were easy bullet-points turn into bullet sponges with scoped machine guns, action thriller ride level design turns into a confused mix of platformer and puzzle segments.
The game becomes vaguely inconsistent after the first half, with timers and scoring tell you that you should be killing people and the level design telling you to slow down and have a nap, your enemies become a hide-and-go-seek type of deal, dodging becomes a required chore and your arsenal is as effective only half the time.
The main problem, for me, is that the game feels progressively more like it can't decide on what style of gameplay to put you through so it demands you do all of them at once, and the scoring system does not help with being shameful mocking thrown at you for not chaining enough kills throughout the level.

To put it in short perspective:
Last Year: The Nightmare is what you would get if you were to take Dead By Daylight and try to gently sprinkle Left 4 Dead on top with a spice shaker, only to realize that the cap has fallen off and you've dumped half the spices in, so you naturally panic and try to dump some water in to save the flavor, except the whole thing overfills in half a second and floods your kitchen.

Is it a bad game? Probably not. The concept is practically ideal for a horror-inducing multiplayer experience up to a suggested amount of 3-4 players versus 1 killer. But the execution of said concept is absolutely dreadful, the game is so unpolished and watered down in several aspects that you could practically slip and break your spine on it as the developers forgot to include the "CAUTION - WET FLOOR" sign on top.
I am not sure if the lead designer or someone working for Elastic got horribly bullied while playing Dead By Daylight or anything similar and they wanted to transfer that feeling into a game, but, to me at least, the experience of fighting *SURVIVORS* that are armed with sentries, bats, pipes, tasers, stun-guns, armor and medical equipment seem to turn it from a survival horror type of deal to a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fiend hunting game. It is practically impossible for the killer to actually succeed if the opposing teens are at least semi-competent in their roles and have at least some concept of teamwork.

BUT, it is fun in it's own right, if you are into some casual survival games with friends or if you use your twitch url instead of a username and you lack the brain cells for anything challenging, try it out. In any other case, please purchase something like Dead By Daylight instead, i.e. something that brands itself as a horror game and actually succeeds at capturing the essence of horror.

TL:DR - The opposite of fun in my opinion.

It's a good game, if you feel like installing 500 stability mods and spending 15 hours searching for fixes to make sure the game can even run properly.
It'd be easier to bring a corpse back to life than to make this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken game run properly.
