WOW! I'm not really a big fan of twin-stick bullet hells but I have been unable to put Kill Knight down since I purchased it on its release. $15 for a game with a very engaing gameplay loop and such a badass aesthetic is an absolute steal, highly recommend it!

This game absolutely nails encouraging the player to enter a "flow state" amid all the carnage you will wreck. I would say the closest comparison is Doom Eternal as both games require fast-paced, delibrate decision in order to sustain yourself and sustain your slaughter. Having to balance clearing the hordes vs. recovering ammo vs. recovering health is really satisfying, especially as you get more and more efficient as you get closer to beating a given level.

I am generally turned away from bullet hells because I don't really find dodging swathes of projectiles fun however Kill Knight doesn't actually do this (at least to the extent that other games in the genre do). Instead it throws hordes of enemies at you that you have to cut down. It can feel very much in the vain of L4D2, Vermintide, or DRG and while I do love coop horde shooters, I really like that Kill Knight offers a similar experience in a singleplayer package.

This can be a challenging game. While I did enjoy the difficulty, I do feel like there was an extremely abrupt difficulty curve following the 2nd level however I was admittingly playing on Knight difficulty (hardest available during your first playthrough). This does kind of become a problem as each level has the same exact arrangement of enemies, spawns, etc. so if you're throwing yourself at a level over and over it might start to get a bit stale. This can be mitigated by experimenting with the various other equipment in your arsenal however unlocking equipment can be very expensive (or is tied to frankly tedious challenges) so this might not always be possible. Regardless, I still found the core gameplay loop so engaging that this wasn't a big damper for me.

Also, the style of this game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool. I love the brutalistic, hellish aesthetic of the setting. I love the glitchy, bold UI. While the tracks featured later in the game are not as strong, the menu music and the music in the first level (especially when the gameplay starts to get more chaotic) are absolute bangers.

More than half the time I spent playing was on my Steam Deck and this game played flawleslly on it. I barely tinkered at all with any of the settings ingame or on the device and it ran at a very smooth 60 FPS, even during the more populated, chaotic moments.

Overall, Kill Knight is a must-play if you are a fan of horde shooters or anyone looking for a fast-paced, high-intensity action.

A fun break of the fourth wall!

This game can be completed in a single session or two and is completely free (DLC is purely cosmetic). If you are a fan of games that are self-aware of themselves (i.e. Stanley Parable, Undertale, DDLC), this is a must-play for sure.

Good movement mechanics haven't been this affordable since 2007! Highly recommend if you are looking for a platformer in the vain of Super Mario 64. Your character's various movement mechanics all complement each other so well and so smoothly that it is a joy to run around. Some might find the map difficult to navigate but its more time to listen to the catchy music and practice cool movement tech if anything else. I'm not even a particularly big fan of platformers but I'm really happy I gave this a shot.

I legitimately can not believe that this game even exists; for something with a story so bizarre and gameplay so unordinary and fun and a production value so high, this game legitimately seems unreal. This is easily one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

Brief but a fun little romp as the monster and really wish this was built upon or got a follow up of some kind. The base price is kind of steep given the scale of the game, would recommend on sale though.

Pacific Drive is like if you took the vehicle survival sandbox of Subnautica and plopped it in a STALKER-styled forbidden zone in the pacific northwest. Gameplay loop revolves around you foraging for supplies and upgrading your car to go deeper and deeper into the zone as you get a better understanding of the zone and its charming cast of characters. I really loved repairing and tinkering my car at the end of every run, sometimes sprucing it up with a new paintjob or some new abilities. I do wish the tech tree was a bit more diverse, I felt that a lot of things you unlocked were essentially straight upgrades and I felt little reason to pursue (i.e. besides the armored/olympium variants the elemental types of panels / doors / bumpers seemed pointless besides their cool look). Really loved the quirks that your car could acquire and the whole process to diagnose and fix them but MAN I wish the RNG gave me different ones other than my right door opening whenever I shift to park!! The environmental art direction in this game is absolutely incredible; the weather effects especially look AMAZING (love the rain trickling down the windshield, love the violent storms). They perfectly capture the eerie vibes of an anomaly infested zone in the same vain as STALKER, Annihilation, and Control do. I found it so bizarre how a game with a setting this creepy could simultanouesly be "cozy", haha. I sincerely hope they do a DLC or a sequel because I would love to see what this really creative experience expanded upon.
