Yo dawg, I heard you like shadows. And repetitive gameplay. And missions that are long just because reasons.

This game is awesome. I bought the game without the DLC to see if I liked it enough, and I definitely do. This is my "Zen" game of the moment, and it helps me relax. Absolutely love it, highly recommend.

What a metaphor for life:
- Insignificant
- Uneventful
- A waste of time
- Bad graphics
- You reach the end and all you can think is "That's it?"

A fun game in the spirit of Super Smash Bros combined with a League of Legends-esque champion system. Great game for playing friends or playing competetively online. For a game that's free, you can't beat it.

A classic shooter full of mindless killing. It requires no skill, no strategy, and no experience. A nostalgic trip for old-timers and an essential bit of gaming history for whipper-snappers.

10/10 would geek out again.

Best Video Game Exploration of Consciousness

I think this game did a tremendous job of making the player think about consciousness, and is easily one of the most philosophical games I've played, next to The Talos Principle and The Stanley Parable.

The story was the strong point for me, so I'm going to briefly mention the parts that stuck with me the most. Unfortunately, the best parts of the game were all spoilers. I've tagged them as such, but if you haven't played through the entire game, I strongly encourage you to hold off on peeking under the black banner until you have.

First, the part where you find out that the Simon that lived in Toronto died a hundred years ago, and your consciousness is a copy of his brain. Wow. I have a hard time articulating why that stuck with me so well, but it did, and I was very impressed.

Second, the part where you copy your consciousness into a new body, and have to decide what to do with the you who was you 30 seconds ago. The conflict between Simon and Catherine in that scene was a good representation of the debate around the issue, and it made sense that the characters responded the way they did. Making the decision affected me, emotionally. I felt the weight of it. Of course I know it's just a game, but deciding whether or not to euthenize the seemingly alive being that, up until this point in the game, represented you was one that I kept thinking about long after that scene was finished, and I think that's entirely the result of fantastic story writing on Frictional's part.

Finally, the ending. It was a strong one, and showed what happens when you split your consciousness but "your" consciousness remains in your inital body. As your character dies slow, cold, and alone, it leaves you with so many questions. The Simon that's on the ark; is he you? But if he is, why isn't he in the pilot seat? And if he isn't, why does he feel like he is (just like you did at Omicron)? Absolutely fantastic ending.

Consciousness Theory: Hardcore Nerd Time

I think that by the end of the game, there are 4 variations of Simon's consciousness. All versions of Simon start with him living in Toronto, experiencing the car accident, and getting his brain scanned. Simon 1 died a few months later, while Simon 2 wakes up 100 years later in Upsilon. At Omicron, Simon 2 transferrs his consciousness into a new body, but is confused when the transfer takes place and he's still sitting in the pilot seat. Simon 3 wakes up in his new body at Omicron to the voice of Simon 2 saying "There must be something wrong..." and then must make a decision about what to do with Simon 2. Either way, Simon 2 dies. Simon 3 completes the mission and copies himself into the ARK, but is left to watch the satellite leave without him as the power goes out and he dies alone. Simon 4, unaware of Simon 3's fate, wakes up in the ARK, in paradise.

Nice little game that makes you think about fate and free will. Clever writing, and enjoyable humor. As others have said, the less you know about this game when you start, the more fun it will be.

Also as others have said, the biggest problem with it is the price tag. You can do everything there is to do in this game in a few hours or less; it is not a $15 game. I bought it on sale for $3 and I think I got my money's worth.
