I remember beating FFVIII in my childhood and not enjoying it. I wanted to play through this game again with no bias and come into the game and go through all the content with a completely blank slate. This game is situated as either people's least favorite or their favorite entry in the series.

FFVIII to me is mediocre, the least interesting entry into the series. The systems are brainlessly simple and cripples any enjoyment of playing the game, the characters are devoid of personality and depth. The romance is dry and engaging, the world is the least interesting. The story is paced awkwardly and feels rather disjointed. The graphics and music are great for the time, and that is par for the course for SE. Despite this game not being the worst Final Fantasy, I despise this game the most.

I hate this game, but at the same time I love this game. The added story and world-building is fantastic, though I'm not a fan of deck-building every librarian on every floor for every few stages. I never want to touch another card game for a while. There are a few issues with grinding, however that is mitigated by a certain viper's ability. The RNG on drop rates makes me curse the existence of loot-boxes and wish they never existed. It's easier to intuitively play than the predecessor Lobotomy Corporation, I don't feel stress clawing at my face in this game.

10/10 addressed the funny characters' traumas and enjoyed the cute ending

Curtain call to one of the most miserable gaming experiences. 100% completing this game gave me not white or black damage, rather pale damage. O-02-63, T-03-46, and bugs stopping mechanics from working hurts my soul.

I would not have it any other way, this is an amazing game.
