Amazing to see this certified hood classic is getting a sequel, and a damn good one at that. Of course, as of now it doesn't have a lot of content, but it's an Open Alpha, for free (assuming the game will be paid). The mechanics and game feel are solid, the gameplay loop is satisfying and the co-op is really good as well, I had zero bugs or lag issues, this is a really good foundation for an amazing game. Can't recommend enough.

Early Access Review
I had a vague memory of this game these last few days, and after a long search I finally found it! I watched a youtuber play it on launch and really liked it but I was a kid and couldn't buy it. When I saw it was still in early access I thought it was abandoned, but to my surprise it's in very active development! Thats really cool!

I will keep on playing the game and will update my review once I beat it (if you can even say that about a sandbox game, but once I see everything there is in the game).

The game looks amazing and seems to have a lot of cool stuff to do, but I instantly have some criticisms that I hope are constructive, I'll give them on the discussion board.

I love this game. This review may be slightly skewed by nostagia.

THE REASON I LOVE IT
I discovered this game when I was about 10 years old and barely knew any english. Judging by the old-school graphics and music, I thought it was an ancient and mysterious game. Gnomoria had launched that very year, but I couldn't know or care less. I got fascinated by it for the wrong reasons, but it managed to captivate my fascination very well anyways.

MY GROWN UP REVIEW
Getting the elephant out of the room, yes, Gnomoria is very clearly inspired by dwarf fortress. It is basically a very simplified version of it with actual graphics better graphics? DF has graphics now. Anyways, I don't mean in any way to tell you this game is simple, it's just simplified when compared to the most complex game ever made. There's a lot of content and customization here, but the game doesn't require hundreds of hours to understand it's inner workings. Also, when comparing the two, Gnomoria feels way more like a game, it has way more quality of life features than it's inspiration, being way smoother and less frustrating to play in general. The game is way more visual too.

Now about the game itself. it is a great game to get into the colony sim genre, being very new-player-friendly but also being complex enough to sink your teeth in.
The graphics are simple and old-school, but are clearly made with love. it has a lot of visual feedback and little details that many games skip because technically they are "useless", but having it adds a lot to the game and elevates it from the rest.
I absolutely love the soundtrack, being very unique and cozy, matching perfectly with the game overall tone and gameplay.
This is a very good game made with a lot of care, and is an underrated gem among the masterpieces in it's genre.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I used to love this game when I was young, and bought it thinking I would probably get disapointed now that I know it's basically a simpler Dwarf Fortress, but wanted to try it out anyways. Turns out that for once, young me was right, this game is really good. Couldn't recommend enough. It's actually kind of sad that this game is so unknown.
PERSONAL SCORE: 10/10, OBJECTIVE SCORE 8.5/10

Leagues above any current competitor. Simply the best of the genre, just play it.
Survivors Games (no better way to call them so far, as far as I know at least) are always fun, but they lack polish or are very gimmicky and shallow. Not this game.

Pretty cool game, has a lot of potential. The arrow turner is one of the most unique and cool mechanic i've seen in a tower defense game in a while. The game is not perfect as of now, but I'm happy to see that most of the problems are already adressed and being worked on.
