I played American Arcadia after hearing a few different youtube personalities mention it favourably, and I am glad I did.

A compelling story, strong aesthetic and style, memorable music and an ending you'll think about for days.

Early Access Review
tldr: enjoyable, immersive, flexible, sneaky and decidedly detective-y

For me this game has the "Dwarf Fortress" effect. As you are playing you see some small generated details that take on a whole new life. I was investigating a murder and found a bloodsplatter away from the body, and a love letter from one partner to the other admitting they "hadn't said 'I love you enough'", which to me started to spin a tale of a marriage going wrong and partners beginning to drift apart. I started to wonder whether the partner had actually been the murderer all along and the investigation grew ever more interesting until I finally acquired their fingerprints and much to my surprise: they didn't do it. I twist-ending'd myself.

I have been pleasantly surprised how much the random generation benefits the detective gameplay. In more structured narratives, I have found they tend to give too much away, or the structured nature of the story gives less room for real deduction. In Shadows of Doubt, the game gives relatively little narrative direction, which lends itself to a much more authentic deduction feel, as you truly are deducing from an assortment of whatever random facts you could find. Absolutely fascinating stuff.

Given it's state as an early access game, and early into said access, it has a few bugs or janky circumstances. I have found that upon loading saves dead bodies have spotted me in their apartment to no consequence, systems have reactivated themselves, and guest access to rooms have been in strange states. I have no doubt that with time these oddities can be polished out, and the core of the game is quite good. There's a decent variety of tasks to undertake and plenty of methods with which to accomplish them.

I've been having a great time with it so far, and look forward to seeing it evolve and grow as it works towards full release. 👏

Stupid. Silly. Fun. Ridiculous. 80's. These can begin to describe Typing of the Dead, but do it no justice. 9/10, would recommend to all who can type well.

Dust: AET is by far the best game I have played this year (2013). With natural controls, an incredible art style and lovable characters, this game has quickly become one of my favourites. Infinity/10
